TBH, from my experience a lot of people are seeking to get out of it because they are tired of the freelance grind and wants something more stable. Once he gets embroiled in the Martin scandal, that could be a set up to get him to do something else.

To be honest, the only one's that's halfway interested in me in the Andre / Ashley / Derek trio is Derek (limited acting abilities and all) and Hayley having a conversation at the end of the week. Not that I want them to be bumping uglies any time soon, but I think the angle of Hayley and Derek getting to be unlikely friends is an interesting angle since it could cause some minor tension and sort of be believable since he's far away enough from the Hayley / Naomi drama that you could see it happening. And Hayley kind of needs someone to vent to that's not in Bill or Dani's sphere.

But yeah, I'm not feeling Andre and Ashley (again, why?!) or Andre and Dani. With the latter I hope it leads to Nicole absolutely ripping into Dani because it's just gross. As I understand it, he was taken in by Nicole and Ted, so Dani should've known him as a teen (?) and would've been "aunt Dani".

I still enjoyed this last week for the most part but I think some of the critiques in here are valid. I’m still giving the show a long grace period because it is a new soap, but I do hope we see some major onscreen shifts sooner rather than later, like late Summer early Fall at the latest. Especially for the parts of the show that are just flat out not working and for me there is about one too many to keep excusing past a certain point.

I thought the Naomi vs Bill law suit drama worked well. Yes its bad to keep having Naomi’s attorney client meetings at a diner and even worse allowing her clients to continuously meet at the opposing counsels office and without their attorney present. I’m willing to hand wave that kind of stuff when we get so many great scenes amongst the Hamilton clan though. Naomi and Bill going at it leading to his health scare, Chelsea vs Hayley, Naomi vs Hayley, Chelsea finally having a one on one with Bill, Dani comforting Naomi, and Dani and Bill playing cat and mouse was all great stuff IMO. Chelsea’s actress is stronger than I’d initially given her credit for btw.

I really enjoyed Caroline being in the mix with the law suit as well, her and Bill’s dynamic is fun to watch and I like her closeness with Hayley.

I don’t care for Doug, his actor or this weird bromance with Joey’s sidekick Randy but I do enjoy Joey and Vanessa together. They have really strong chemistry and I’m curious just how dark things can get with Doug being in Joey’s tangled web and trainer man getting more and more jealous and aggressive. This is the story I hope they let go Guza wild when the time comes.

I also liked seeing more of Vanessa and Nicole’s friendship and how protective Nicole was. Daphnee Duplaix really is the series MVP imo, she’s such a strong reliable presence, she even played that P&G product placement with ease. I appreciate that they just let her spray the Febreze instead of adding some cringe worthy ad dialogue btw.

Funny how Nicole is all up in other peoples business but has no idea about the infiltration of Eva and Leslie into her family's lives. This story was severely missed this week since Ted and Nicole mostly played supporting to Vanessa.

I also surprisingly wanted to see more Martin, Smitty and their family crew as well. I agree with those who still feel Martin would work better being Anita and/or Vernon’s son instead of Nicole and Ted’s. The show has laid enough groundwork with Kat being a miracle baby that I’d accept some kind of messy backstory that ended with Nicole and Ted raising Martin as their own child to avoid a scandal but if they left his paternity alone I wouldn’t be mad about it.

Andre/Ashley/Derek were once again the worst part of the show for me, I audibly groan every time they pop up in an episode. This pivot towards a hospital documentary is more laughable and cringe than the other prop heavy crap they’ve been given since the show started. At this point I want all three characters gone, because none of them work writing or acting wise for me. Move Shanice into Ted and Nicole’s orbit and dump everything and everybody else.

In my version... She recognizes Ashley and moves away. Never to be seen again for a while.

Then in couple of weeks we witness Ashley see something on her phone and panic. She then acts like nothing happened and when Derek wants to see what she saw that made her so distraught... She doesn't give him the phone.

Then we see a hand holding a different phone and reading an article named "15 years after tragic accident. Babysitter sets house on fire. 3 children die. Babysitter survives." We see Ashley's face when she was in her teens.

The voice says to someone else that is sitting next to them - maybe that's why she's dedicated her whole life to "helping" people... She is trying to erase her past. I think it's time we do something about that?

End of scene.

Don't hate me. I haven't had breakfast yet.

This Joey/Vanessa/Doug story is quickly becoming my second favorite after Ted/Silk Press. I was curious how Nicole and Vanessa would work together but it felt very natural and I am loving each layer being peeled off. I am a little disappointed Joey's mom is dead (I wanted to meet her!) but it was nice to see Vanessa get a direct example of his deviousness to make it clear she knows what she's dealing with.

My favorite storylines are back - love seeing Leslie and Ted right now.  Bribing her to leave town for good.

Enjoy seeing Martin and Smitty, just really ready to figure out who he killed and what his nightmares are all about.

    • They are mentioning Aristotle Dumas in nearly every scene now.  Good Lord.  The poor actors must roll their eyes every time they get a new script.
    • BC played Jeffrey O'Neill, her last husband- the ninth.   Yes, April Fools Day 2009 is a date that will live in infamy for GL fans but I feel we all kinda expected it at that point.  The soap press reported that GA's return as Phillip was basically the show's final chance at getting the ratings up.  A Hail Mary if you will.  It didn't extend the show's life but it was fantastic to see Phillip back in SF where he belonged.
    • I think Alexa Havins has been polarizing. A large segment of fans love her and what she's done with the role, while others say she's a good actor but they hate the way Lulu is written -- as someone who interferes and is a harpy. I personally think she's been a terrific recast.
    • The perfect camp. And maybe it's regional? I don't recall seeing a "sponsored in part by..." tag during today's end credits, either, which is usually when I see the commercials.
    • Totally agree on TMG - perfect daytime camp. I always get Febreeze commercials, and did today. I wonder why you're not, that's odd.
    • Dipping my toes back in, and Leslie continues to be THE star. Girl has brought the same energy since day one. Anita has become tons more interesting when played with her former groupmates. Kat is such a massive disappointment. I can’t stand her.
    • this was a great episode. Leslie with Jacob was lol as were the scenes with Jacob/Kat.  I like that Eva is vulnerable at times. Makes it easier to like her. The writers need to do this with Dani more. (and Leslie). The Anita scenes were also well done.  Big credit to the writers today!

date: Thursday, June 5 | Christopher Dunn, Judy Tate | Michael V. Pomarico I love the way Vernon just observes Anita and knows exactly what's on her mind and yet still allows her to explain her way out of it all. He knows his wife. LAURA IS BACK AT WORK! I am very, very happy for you, and I love that Katherine, Mona, and Nicole are there to warmly welcome her back. It's been months! Uh-oh, Ms Dana, here comes the PD to raid your ass; I just wish Eva hadn't moved the helmet and gloves, because she could be caught NOW! Sharon continues to show how absolutely ugly she is with her nasty, distasteful attitude. Shame on her. Absolute shame. Dante Greene is the devil; a truly deplorable human being who clearly felt he could walk over someone without a care by luring the other three Articulettes with him via Anita. I admire that Anita is fully aware of things right now; she's considering everything: the positive and the negative. And with Vernon's support and wisdom, she's got this locked in. Oh, more backstory! There was a hiatus to mourn Barbara, and Anita did not come back. I hate to say it, but that does happen in real life. Choice to take a break, for whatever reasons, and you don't come back together. We've seen it before. I like how humble Eva is with her position at the salon and where she came from, especially in beginning as Nicole's assistant. I appreciate that Laura is struggling to transition back into her work space and that she's re-adjusting, with everyone giving her the grace she needs. I love that Jacob is not backing down to Dana and her attempts to "woo" him. YES ANITA! STAND UP FOR YOURSELF! Vernon saw what was coming and said, "I'm going to safety! This is for the women, not me," and he yeeted himself out of there. Katherine should have an office and a badge at this point; she's more than earned it. Oh, there is a slight flirt in Nicole's eye who is enjoying the continued run-ins with Ted; she's in love with him. And that isn't changing. Go on, Anita! You fight for yourself, girl! Speak the TRUTH! Oh, look, Eva and Laura. This is interesting. Very, very interesting. Notes: Febreze and no commercial; maybe it's only Tide that garners the commercials right now? Trisha Mann-Grant (Dana) continues to serve camp, but it's camp done right. It's not a comedy or a mockery; it's pure daytime camp. I wonder who they'll cast as Dante Greene if the role comes onto the scene. I appreciate them bracing the subject matter of suicide in a way that does not come off as... cliche or in poor taste. Tamara Tunie (Anita) is continuing to show up! I love this for her. A true matriarch and legend!
