Posted yesterday at 06:22 AM Members Share Posted yesterday at 06:22 AM (edited) What's funny about this is that most journalists I know work freelance these days - very few publications can afford to have a full time staff, so it technically is the perfect "job" for him since the kids would be in school most of the day. So I don't really see the issue, but I guess he's meant to be an investigative reporter type? I think they plucked a bunch of typical soap opera professions, but you're right. I don't think they thought much how it all would intersect with each other. I feel like Andre being a photographer / documentarian has an extremely limited angle when this silly hospital story is done. I think it's great that they have so many sets, but I'm not sure they thought everything through. I wouldn't be surprised if we suddenly see characters make "surprising" career choices in the coming year. He may be dumb as a doorknob butttt.... So many low points to chose from but DP's dialog is a solid runner up with the nadir being Vanessa calling Joey a Zaddy. Cringe This show has fallen far and fast and wasn't too strong to begin with.. It's sad that the 20 producers, 15 writers and other vets on the production staff couldn't put together at least three watchable months. I could barely get through this week's episodes. They failed at two cardinal rules: hire players who can ACT (especially those in the A,B,C plots) and tell a few cohesive stories consistently for the first several months. They really squandered an opportunity to roll out a few gripping stories so that many who tuned in out of curiosity could be hooked. Once new viewers tune out it's hard to get them back. He can do whatever he wants, so he's been travelling the world doing photography. He doesn't need a job at all. They seem to be writing it that he happened to drop into Fairmont Crest to visit, then stopped by the hospital, and the elevator baby thing happened and he decided to stay in town. The silly hospital story feels like an artificial way to get him interacting with Ashley. Editing later, to add: I think Andre chose photography as a career because he enjoys it. And he can afford the equipment and any travel involved, which many photographers cannot afford. It has been rather bland, minus a few scenes here and there. It has been only a month, but as a viewer, I already know what's working and what is not. It might not produce the greatest entertainment, but they have a great excuse for him to mix it up with just about every character on the show, and it would make sense. There's a lot I can complain about but the careers and professions are not one of them. You can get a level of drama out of every job you use your imagination. Plus right now, Andre can thrive without his career being a focus. He's connected to the main family and will support all their storylines, as the playboy he will surely have a great love or just be a spoiler for others! I don't see it either. I don't find it slow at all. My only complaint this week so far is Derek. In the scene where he and Ashley set up for the dinner with Andre, I noticed he doesn't even stand or walk in a natural way. He seems so stiff and uncomfortable. Highlights so far were the Dani/Bill scenes and Dani and Andre who continue to have a nice and easy chemistry. I also was happy to see Dani interacting with Ashley. It was nice not only for the Andre of it all but to further establish Ashley as a family friend through her relationship with Naomi.
