And I can’t help but wonder if there was a reason why he was fired right in the middle of the hospital fundraiser arc 😂

If they only needed a couple of grand to save the whole hospital, it feels like there were simpler ways to raise funds.

Also, why is never sunny in Salem?

Finally, my argument why I think RonC's leaving was not a surprise.

  1. It is not unusual for a new writer to want to write an episode with as many characters as possible for their first day, so the fundraiser was a good start point
  2. EJ coming out of the coma is the next chapter of the mystery
  3. The fundraiser allows for a re-set without consequences, like when they dedicated Horton Square
  4. Most of RonC's stories have concluded at this point

Side note: someone merely tagging your name, does not give you the opportunity to derail an entire thread.  I am neither entertained nor enlightened by your bickering.  If someone misunderstands your intentions, take it as feedback to write more concisely, don't try to change their opinion.

AND if you can't take it to the PM's because a member has blocked you, they don't want to engage with you — don't take it as an invitation to respond in the threads.

I wonder if Ford or Cwikly penned the show during the strike 🤔

Conventional wisdom said that they did with Shari.

Do you guys think it will be easy to rebuild... or was the soap very badly damaged by this writer at this point?

It’s possible.

Days has actually rebounded pretty nicely in the aftermath of that Body&Soul garbage, and the cruel toxic shitshow that it was in 2022 and 2023.

Admittedly, there’s still usually one really crappy, poorly written episode every week but we all know who’s fault that is.

For the most part, I think Paula/Jean just need to remember that they’re writing Days of Our Lives, not Days of Our Leo or The Rob&Greg Hour and especially not Ron&Jamey’s Shitfest 😂😂😂

If, suddenly, everyone’s favorite book becomes Pride and Prejudice again, then yes, they were the ones writing during the strike 😂😂😂

Idk.

With the way that Ron is, I can’t imagine Days would have gotten so good in his final weeks if he had known that he was on his way out.

This is the man who basically declared war on Abigail and everyone around her just because fans didn’t like one storyline

Who knows how much will actually change in the next few months as we still have most of the same breakdown, script editor, and script writers as before. Will there be changes there in the future?

It is ludicrous to suggest that a contract had some magical advance notice clause. Has anyone ever heard of any such thing? NO. And, name-calling & making it out that someone is a "cancer" would look to me like it breaks the rules recently published. Weird, though since I just got through saying that being right is not all that it's about.

I don’t think there’s any question that Ron was fired, but it was not a surprise to him. He had to have been given notice by the owners

This may be a semantic issue.  Certainly Ron, his manager, and his agent knew about his contract expiring, and they knew that they had not been contacted to renegotiate.  Is that the same thing as being fired?  Maybe….  But, as we've discussed ad nauseam, there were other factors.  Including that his contract rate was held over from the time DAYS was on network, so there were financial considerations.  The new producer wanted their own team.  And there is a natural life expectancy for any writer, and RonC had reached that limit.

Either way, there are union issues involved in who gets credit for work, and how much it can be re-edited and still be given credit.  So, the transparency is in the credits.

However, as @ArizonaDaze said so well,

I don’t anticipate any noticeable changes in the next six to nine months—nor will I be actively searching for them. Much like I disregard those who clamor for attention by parroting rumors, pasting Wikipedia excerpts, or outsourcing their commentary to ChatGPT, all without contributing a shred of original thought, insight, or genuine entertainment to the conversation.

Not sure why there was so much confusion about Ron’s last day but whatevs. The day we’ve been waiting for since last July is FINALLY here!!!!!

And what a coincidence that Ron’s last day is a classic Ron/Jamey shitfest, with fluff, filler, people acting out of character, Leo and Javi making me want to vomit, Alex and Xander looking hot, Alex being an arrogant douche, Stephanie being nothing but a doormat/little woman, etc.

And I can’t help but wonder if there was a reason why he was fired right in the middle of the hospital fundraiser arc 😂

And yeah, I’m also not sure why single guys like Brady, Philip or even Doug III aren’t part of the Bachelor auction but whatevs. Hopefully, it won’t matter sooner or later.

I actually am a little interested in the potential conflict for JJ/Gabi that was started today, but mostly because, if they go there, it’s going to be handled by different writers and not RSW’s #1 fan 🖕

Regardless, tomorrow is the start of a new day and I’m really looking forward to it. We finally made it, y’all! 😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉

Hehe. I knew you would be doing the Snoopy dance.

Every conversation I've had with the actors points to October as being when they were finally free of Ron outlines. But Paul was clear that even if the stories were awful they were better written, and he and Eric both said their characters stop acting like overgrown teenagers

Ehh… it’s his own fault. And I’ll gladly do it again when Jamey’s last episode airs 👍😂😂

I actually don’t mind that, because most of the ideas were good. The biggest problems were always with the execution.

I think DAYS has proven, time and again, that it bounces back and is nimble because the foundation of the show is the actors and they have endured so many awful head writers for decades that they can handle most anything.

DAYS having Paula/Jeanne come on at the same time they have promoted Noel Maxam, is one of those times where I think the show could actually be on the upswing...the Plan to Save DAYS is legendary for never quite panning out how we'd hoped though...
