Members Chris B
Days, particularly under Ron was a campy mess. I didn't see that same type of work from Jamey on Ambitions or Sistas so I'm going to assume that is just doing what fit into that specific show. I'm hopeful Jamey works as well with MVJ here as he did on Ambitions.
Members AbcNbc247
Under Ron, it got way, way worse after Jamey showed up. Hopefully, MVJ and everyone are watching them like hawks.
Members Vanguardian53
And it's kind of annoying to me honestly. Hire actor Blair Underwood as Vernon's younger brother. Give Teddy Bear that twin that I still beleive exists for some reason. I wouldn't mind Jacob having a male sibling too. Members Faulkner
This show has a lot of room to grow with its Black male characters, which I’m cautiously optimistic about. That’s the bee in my bonnet about daytime in general, that Black male portrayals on soaps are usually as interesting as cardboard. Yes, this is a female-oriented genre, but it’s nothing without fascinating, sexy, complicated men. Martin, Bill, Vernon, and Andre all have potential. Andre’s the only one whose POV feels on the same level (or greater) as his female counterparts right now. We see his longing for Ashley, etc. Jacob had a quick moment, but I’m not sold on that character other than his body, and he feels disposable. Even though it’s early days still, the fact that Martin hasn’t had a single meaningful interaction with his own father thus far has been concerning. Martin on paper is potentially an incredible character. Everyone feels like they’re hermetically sealed in their plot-driven silos for the moment, which I sorta get from a “let’s get this show on the road” standpoint. They’re also setting up for big reveals around Martin’s dreams and Bill and Vernon’s role in a potential cover-up, the plane crash that claimed Andre’s parents, et al, so they are playing their cards close to their vest. Dani is definitely becoming Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald. Would love to see who is the Mary Wilson and Cindy Birdsong to Anita’s Diana Ross. (Maybe there was a Flo Ballard counterpart too who suffered an ill fate.)
Members Taoboi
Hahah. Speak on it!! And...AMEN. And it is also your hope that gives me hope Jamey will be more in that direction than his DAYS direction.

Members Chris B
If it was another soap I may not be as hopeful but MVJ has shown good instincts as a HW so far and they have a good working relationship. Plus with Gregori Martin already out (and we saw how bad his first outline was), that gives me hope she'll make adjustments as needed when it comes to her writing staff. I feel like because they're remote, they'll be more likely to make changes there than they will with the cast since many had to re-locate for the show.

Members alwaysAMC
This show has a ton of EPs and producers - is that normal for soaps?

Members BetterForgotten
It’s because a number of different entities have joined forces to finance and produce this show. CBS, P&G, the NAACP. They all have their individual people representing them on the EP team. That’s in addition to MVJ (creator and HW) getting an EP credit along with Guza, and Julie Hanan Carruthers (whose primary role is focused on keep the production in order).
Members All My Shadows
It’s because there are several production companies working on it, and each company has an EP or two involved to represent its interests. Most soaps have only been produced by 1-2 companies.
Members Soaplovers
Ron and Jamey as breakdown writers are a massive red flag. From what I understand, breakdown writers have the most contact/interaction with the head-writers so I assume that MVJ and Guza were on board with Ron's Friday outline. I am curious if every soap has a new breakdown writer for each episode, or if BTG is the only soap that is doing that. I would think it would be more logical to have the breakdown writer handle breakdown each episode for the week, with the script writers alternating per episode. With that said, I did like that there was a bit of break between Dani vs Bill/Hayley... with Hayley's not being welcomed by the staff of the country club (as Vanessa eluded to in the first episode) and Bill potentially being sued by former employees of his due to his promoting Hayler over others (which I like that the conversation Hayley and Caroline had in the first week was a foreshadowing). However, Naomi has no business taking on the case. It's a conflict of interest and she doesn't seem like she's able to put aside emotion in order to do her job (which seems to be the norm with lawyers nowadays). I have a feeling that Eva is actually Ted and Nicole's child.. and that Silk Press Sheila managed to have that embryo implanted in her. It's not far fetched, or she did a baby switch and perhaps Kat isn't really a Richardson and Eva is? Unpopular opinion, but Tomas is a decent actor and kind of hot. I would be on board with a Tomas/Kat/Eva triangle down the road. Dani is just pathetic and if she passed away from alcohol poisoning, I wouldn't care.
