#Team Eva all the way!!

That said I like the set up the show has built up for a nice rivalry with Kat for sure.

And Yeesh I’m all caught up and yet so far beyond on this thread lol.

I love Nicole. I like Dani but she is definitely her own worst enemy and curious to see if she can find a turning point.

Also I think it would be interesting to see Hayley slowly just slide into Fairmont society to the point where she becomes acceptable Dupreees be damned lol.

Weakest part of the show for me continues to be the Martin/Smitty family drama. I like Mike Manning’s Smitty but the whole stuff is pretty awkward for me.

It was on the news yesterday. In fact I watched the whole segment on YouTube last night. They were talking about how long it will take them to adjust after being up there all of that time.

Although, I think it's newsworthy that they are home safely, it's definitely not worth cutting into daytime TV. Most people don't even know they were up there.

Fortunately, here in NYC we don't get too many interruptions as the regular news comes on at 4pm.

-- Another good show today, but also plenty of cringe dialogue with performances I'll kindly call awkward.

-- Eva's line about multiple orgasms can't save a show where Tomas tells Kat "I concur." No guy wearing a huge ring on his dial finger talks that way, especially if he's supposed to be a hot Latino. Damn, he's bad. Kat and Eva's scenes are always good.

-- Hayley being ignored at the Club was good stuff. I wish they'd done even more with it. I'll say again that MG isn't fiery enough for Hayley. Those cheap ass outfits she wears can't do all the talking.

-- I love Vernon and Anita, but at some point they have to move beyond these stories about how amazing and perfect Anita is. They're pushing it already.

-- I agree with others that the Naomi lawsuit scenes didn't work as well as they could. Some editing neeed? Or more charged dialogue?

-- I don't like the casting of Mike the Sexual Harassment Pig. Doesn't seem like someone who'd be a fit for a top position in Bill's company. Not smooth enough. Or at all.

-- I'm all for Dani setting that living room at Bill and Hayley's on fire. Looks like this Glorietta person bought things at Dollar General.

-- I have no idea what Jacob wanted to arrest Joey for. I mean, what?

Thank you.

Before last night, I had no idea about them. I happen to have on the news (something that I've been doing more of due to He Who Shall Not Be Named...just like I was the last time cuz...peace of mind) and my local news station did a segment. Newsworthy yes, but IMHO not so newsworthy to cut into the show. There was another more newsworthy segment afterwards last night that bothered me more and should be discussed...that I'm surprised it has not been all over media. I wrote about it briefly, but in the interest of keeping this thread about THE SHOW...and not politics, I edited it out of my original post. Because that (and apparently what just happened an hour ago) I could see interrupting a show. And those are topics that the masses are aware of or would be affected by.

"Are you crazy?”

“One of us is – and the crazy ends now if you know what's good for you. I know you were in my house, bitch.”

This show is like a drug.

I'm...

I was waiting for BtG to have the classic soap element of sisters fighting over a guy, and it looks like that will be Kat/Eva/Tomas.

See? This episode was a good counterpoint.

I know I was discussing RC, the forthcoming Jamey scripts, and the like this morning. And this episode was scripted by Lynn Martin who also did the script for the RC breakdown. And it was like night and day from that Friday episode. So perhaps once Jamey's first script arrives, it will be the same versus what he wrote on DAYS.

I think the thing that really intrigued me was the lawsuit storyline. I liked that here we were getting more development for another side character...Mike who was Bill's best man I believe. And it sounds like he's crooked. I didn't get that from him in his first few appearances and thought him a snob. So nice to see him developed. And is this our first topical storyline on the show...sexual harassment in the workplace? Is it still timely? It did make me wonder. And also it made me side-eye Hayley after that one girl mentioned that she lost out on her job because she would not do anything with Mike. So...did Hayley do something? And then it's external conflict for Naomi who could use her own storyline. And it would be her vs Bill...organic drama. It has its possibilities.

And then there was Eva vs Kat. Oooooo I knew Kat wouldn't like seeing her in that dress!! lol. And her 'you're in my seat' had me fall out since it was from the Karen Huger playbook of slights. And yaaass to Eva rising to the occasion. Again, if these two DO turn out to be sisters, that's going to be such a mess since they are already rivals.

I feel like Jacob (hmmm with his foine self) and his partner seeing Joey is going to be important at a later date. But good to see his partner has a bit of backstory, too.

I hollered at Hayley getting slighted by the whooooole country club. And Dani got to see it. hehe. But it sounds like that might be the push to get Bill to reveal Martin's secret or push that storyline forward.

Speaking of...Dani, Dani, Dani. I was happy to see her in Momager mode. And even better, I was happy seeing her functioning and being supporting to the others rather than vice versa. After episodes of her at her worst, the writers were shifting her back again into a more sympathetic light. And then they pulled the rug out from under me with this episode coda. Le sigh. Not her turning into a drunk. She just can't help it, can she?

Also loved seeing the Kat and Chelesa dynamic, the family giving the collective stare at Tomas, the fact the Kat/Chelesa business story is just nicely simmering in the background.

Now...we getting a cliffhanger tomorrow before March Madness or what?

Yep, yep.

Today was laugh out loud fun. Kat vs. Eva is awesome. I am glad Eva finally stood up to her. I do like Kat & Tomas but Alex Alegria needs more "coaching".

Vernon & Anita are couples goals and so cute together. I love their love.

Dani is such a broken hot mess. I felt badly for her in the last scene. I do see Bill & Dani as the Victor & Nikki or Alan & Monica of the show. They are so getting back together.

Love all of these Dupree moments.

The end of episode #1 after Dani confronted Hayley, when all the Duprees walked out one by one and glared disparagingly at Hayley as they passed her.

The wedding when Anita wordlessly got everyone to sit down and *not* stand for the bride's entrance.

Today with the family giving the collective stare at Tomas

There have been a few more, mostly wordless, and all iconic in my mind.

    • I still continue to think that Dani is written like she's been in a soap opera for 20 seasons and she's come to a point where she's completely spent storyline wise. It's a vibe I'm getting. Characterization wise... It's like she is either incredibly stupid... or just plain delusional and out of touch with reality. I choose to pick the second option. Also... to me... she has not been entertaining for months now. Ever since they decided to jump straight to... she's an alcoholic... which we didn't need at this point... the character has struggled. Her initial Ex-wife-from-hell bravado was more interesting, even though cliche.  I expect her to improve in the coming months... they used her as a clown type of character to draw in views. Now I need to see the human being. If there is one, behind the soap opera caricature.
    • A full 1973 episode that looks fantastic in color.
    • It 's obviously cheaper to go the true crime route. Having different reporters and production teams covering a variety of topics costs more. The networks are delivering budget programming these days.
    • Maybe because 60 Minutes has kept the same formula for almost 57 years? Usually, there is more than one interview/topic discussed, like a real magazine. Dateline, 20/20, and so many others have all fallen to the one-subject formula: True crime. I mean, I'm a Forensic Files junkie and loved original America's Most Wanted back in the day, but even I think the TV market has been over-saturated with all crime, all the time. There was still that element when these shows began, but they were a segment of an episode, not the entire episode. Maybe the audience is just getting bored with such a fixed formula. If stories were intermixed with crime, some feel-good segment, and maybe something to do with lifestyle/music/and yes, as much as I have come to hate it, political issues, maybe these shows could rally. As they are - again, minus 60 Minutes - they have become tired and predictable.
    • Interesting tidbit- Robert Newman (Josh) dated Jennifer Cooke (Morgan) when they first started on Guidling Light (it was reported in the press and I think they talked about it in interviews). I did see (as a young kid) Rita having a flashback about Roger's rape of her --and it was confusing as a kid because she was on the floor leaning against her bed and she looked like she was seduced by force and her dress was in disarray, her hair was mussed, make up was a bit messy, but she looked at him with fear, disgust and confusion but the camera was in soft focus (so I get why people may say it was romanticized)--and I remember asking what happened to her and told well she is having nightmares/flashbacks of Roger not being nice to her
    •   Like I said I wasn’t talking about characterization. It makes sense that Dani is in denial. However literally no one in the real world would accuse someone of faking a pregnancy. Why? Because it’s just not feasible. What is Dani supposed to expect from Hayley—that she’ll be hiding a pillow under her shirt 24/7? Come on. The accusation has no legs, and that’s exactly why nobody would ever go there. A far more plausible accusation—one that actually has been made for centuries—is that someone might lie about who the father is. Dani only vaguely hinted at that, but at least that angle would make some narrative sense. I’d go for a coworking space that would be home to these small businesses like Kat and Chelsea’s bag startup (the whole police station trope feels like copaganda to me)
    • I guess RTPP looked worse because it followed Another World, but it's a shame they didn't give it more time especially considering how the shows that were put on following it fared.
