They're doing everything they can to get this show samples. I really give props to CBS, NAACP and P&G. Seeing how high their Black audience was, this is a very smart move. They're bringing soaps to an entirely new generation.

I feel like most people I’ve encountered (who aren’t necessarily soap diehards like many here) first sampled Generations or were aware of it through the BET rebroadcast in the 90’s. Myself included - but that was during the heyday of cable television, which has a much more limited audience now. But still, this is a great redistribution platform - and BET is still a Paramount subsidiary, so makes sense that they would create synergy and leverage it for BTG.

They’ve also been very strategic and smart with the press rollout of this show. Giving priority to black-owned or black-centric media properties with exclusives and such.

So Paramount higher-ups forced them, lol.

BET, like its sister MTV, has such a trash schedule with the same things airing over and over again. You’d think they’d be more open to something that’s already in the Paramount family.

Maybe if the 10 episodes exceed expectations, they’ll air it regularly.

Also, BET did air the ET specials during BTG’s premiere week as well.

This is still not bad. It allows a new audience to sample it and then if they like it they can still carry on to CBS or Paramount+ to keep watching. BET has had success in their primetime lineup with soaps so it'll be good for that audience to know there's a new soap. I know The Oval and Sistas are still very popular for them so they're likely trying to grab those viewers.

Ugh because airing Martin, The Fresh Prince , and Madea movies all damn day is so much better. I hate this version of BET. 10 episodes are still good. I hope they can catch the Sistas, Oval crowd if they aren't already watching

BET could really be showing the daily shows concurrently with CBS and I wouldn't be mad

I bet the 10 episodes reaired on BET will have a higher viewership then whatever it's replacing.  It happened several years ago when the revived AMC and OLTL had a syndicated run on OWN (after the backlash Oprah got for not airing new episodes).. and the ratings for each episode was significantly higher then the programming they replaced.

Any exposure can help a show get exposure and more $.

    • The whole AMC 2.0 pulled it together in mere weeks to get a show up and running, with scripts and a cast.

Ginger Smith seemed really passionate about being in the executive producer position, and I think she really did a fantastic job in six weeks. It was just well done.
    • I totally didn’t pick up on that. Just perfect! I don’t get the Maurice Johnson hate around here at all. He didn’t take me out of the scenes at all. I understood everything he was portraying. It was great. I do wonder if there will be a personality shift with the new actor, whom I’m still not excited about. Exactly. Right? I’m in the exact same boat as you. Agree with most of this except I never found anything off with Ted, didn’t suspect a thing. I just watched yesterday’s episode and it was one of the best soap episodes I’ve seen in a very long time. I was enthralled the entire time. Just fantastic.
    • Yep! Very curious to see where this goes.
    • I was confused too, but I think it was always a "tribute thread" (this one and OLTL's were created when their cancellations were announced). They just changed the show abbreviations to their titles spelled out, I guess to make the board just a little bit more uniform. I was lost, too lol
    • Well... I am. I think she's losing her initial menacing presence. Slowly but surely. I need the crazy dialed back. But as I said... this is very miniscule negative reaction. I am loving the show right now. We'll see how they'll continue after the fireworks.
    • Oh, I am so looking forward to the reveal about Laura's accident, and Nicole and Leslie having a real one on one.
    • I'm not seeing that right now. I'm stepping out on faith and believeing MVJ will not turn "Silk" into a ridiculous caricature.
    • One little... very little... tiny... minuscule negative comment. I was debating if I should care to say it... In some ways... Silk has been acting clownish... I think they need to dial it back, because if this continues with the current pace... she'll be worse than Sheila in terms of getting totally predictable and not menacing anymore. TMG is one hell of an actress... I just want to see a more normal and less clownish Silkpress in the coming weeks*months. We need to dial down the wigs too. It's becoming a funny caricature and we don't want that. Maybe we do, I'm not sure. I just like her more menacing and sinister than... "Hahhahahah what is she wearing today". That's a personal preference.   So far... I am okay with it... but I have fears this may turn into a really tired joke in the future. I want TMG as long as possible on my screen!
    • Not really short-lived as GH went to color in 1967, so the blue background actually lasted about twice as long as the black background. You can see it at the very beginning of this set of clips from 1974:

Also would like to put it out there in the universe, as I often do, that the wait for any AMC from 1972-1976 has been too damn long. At this point, it is the only long-running soap (10+ years) that has absolutely zero video clips from that time period online. We have either whole episodes or clips from every year of the show's run except those five, which happen to be the exact years when one of my favorite characters I've never actually seen, Margo Flax, was a major player. Justice for Margo, please.
