Knots Landing

All 14 seasons of the cult classic primetime soap opera “Knots Landing” will soon be available for digital purchase, courtesy of Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment.

For fourteen years, the residents of the seaside community of Knots Landing, a coastal suburb of Los Angeles, were buffeted by lust, greed and betrayal as passions exploded when four married couples in the suburban paradise struggled with the conflicts and passions that struck every marriage. Storylines centered on infidelity, health, murder, kidnapping, drug smuggling, corporate intrigue, and criminal investigations, among other issues.

Beginning Monday, February 24, every episode of the series will be available to purchase digitally on such services as Amazon (Prime Video), AppleTV, YouTube, Fandango at Home, and more. All episodes are also currently streaming on Prime Video and the Primetime Soaps by WBtv channel on Plex TV, among other services.

Premiering December 27, 1979 on CBS, “Knots Landing” is a spinoff of the cultural phenom that was “Dallas,” and starred the likes of Jim Houghton, Don Murray, Douglas Sheehan, Michele Lee, Ted Shackelford, Joan Van Ark, Donna Mills, Kevin Dobson, Alec Baldwin, Nichollete Sheridan, Hunt Block, Kathleen Noone and countless others throughout the show’s 14 season run, which included an astonishing 344 episodes.

Following the show’s cancellation in 1993, CBS broadcast “Knots Landing: Back to the Cul-de-Sac,” a two-part miniseries continuation of the series which reunited several cast members.

The iconic theme song was composed by Jerrold Immel.

Is there any news on whether the episodes have been digitally remastered like Dallas?

This is still good news. I do not care for the commercials or voice-overs in the closing credits.

It's interesting that the release date is also the premiere date of Beyond the Gates.

I hope they release the remaining seasons digitally of Falcon Crest as well. I believe only the first four seasons are currently available for purchase.

Hopefully eventually! The Cagney & Lacey TV movies all eventually ended up available.

with BTG coming and Knots being such a success from its debut on PLEX- the audience is right there for classic soaps.

I would pay the premium to have access to the Salem Stalker, early Y&R, Guiding Light from the Curlee/Calhoun era, etc. I wish Sony/Corday would test the waters with the Possession- from Desecrator to exorcism. It’s not even my favorite DAYS story, but I have a feeling it would go over well.

Thanks for updating us.

It will be nice to have the rest of the seasons, as only the first two seasons were released on DVD. I can't wait to purchase the complete series digitally.

    • I never liked Reva, either the first time around, or the second. My issue for the first go round was that Reva dominated the show, which was a shame because I didn't like the character.  Loud, insecure, narcissistic "look at me", "here I am, entertain me" individuals irritate me in real life.  It wouldn't have mattered to me who portrayed the character...Zimmer or someone else. Reva is a character inherently inimical to the idea of ensemble.   Post 1995, Reva was no longer a character, but a device.
    • I have no idea why Gio would go to Sonny first since he told Emma he thought Sonny knew about him all along. Maybe to clarify if Sonny knew?  Considering Sonny didn't know Dante was his son back then it doesn't really matter. I am sure Sonny will make some wise parallel about his father leaving and his mother dying or being lied to by Olivia and Gio will see the light.
    • I know I have heard Orpheus mention it, at least in passing.  I still don't know why exactly he hates John though.  It seems Orpheus was heavily leaning into a Stefano moment of Marlena obsession, but then he always wanted to murder her a bunch so it's unclear.
    • I always thought that whoever pitched his return story in 2016 just didn't do their homework, and didn't know that the real Roman was the one who killed Orpheus' wife.
    • Xander is Victor's son, but thought he was his nephew until Victor's will.  His mom is an alcoholic who ran Sarah down then left town.  He's got a kid with Sarah and then is related to the rest of the Kiriakis brood. I would argue Orpheus lost his purpose years ago.  I lost the plot with Orpheus when his entire beef was with John and not Roman.  The person who actually killed his wife. Too be kind I'll just say it looks like Chandler was a bit out of practice at the old acting game.  He's never stopped smirking.
    • He is Victor's son so Bo and Philip are his brothers and Brady and Shawn are his nephews. Justin has remained his first cousin

    • -- I didn't want to be the first person to mention it, because I've complained so much about Chandler Massey's smirking and grinning in the past. He just cannot get through a scene without breaking -- that grin broke through every time he ran into another character today. He looks young -- and good -- but I am not a fan of this acting. He's not trying. -- I agree with others here about this goodbye. The bandaged John is a throwback and a full circle moment, but it's gone on too many days already. I especially hate the "He's getting better" stuff. That doesn't work since we all know how this ends. -- I'm glad to see the return of all these characters and I love the flashbacks, but I think DAYS could have done all that without the bandaged exit.
    • That's the one thing I really dislike about all this. Orpheus should not be alive.  If anything, I hope he's erased from existence from here on. He has no purpose now that John is dead.
