She def hired some faves (Steve Burton, Jason Thompson). She brought in another useless blonde named Courtney for her daughter (just like GH and AW). I think Jensen Buchanan got a job there at that time. I can't be fucked to go through her whole dismal tenure to recall the other FOJ hallmarks.

Ah! I do recall this now. I do think Steve Burton and Jason Thompson were good choices. Burton was excellent with Sharon Case and he did much better work on Y&R than he has on GH in recent years.

To me Steve is so much better on GH than he was BITD. A lot's happened. DAYS was good for him. Y&R may have been also.

He was good on Days as well. I feel like in recent GH stints (especially the one before his COVID firing) you can tell he was phoning it in but especially on Y&R, that wasn't an option. He really stepped it up to the point I was devastated after his exit storyline which was a career highlight for him.

I was one of the fans watching Steve daily on two different soaps - DAYS & GH. DAYS because their tape to air is so off & GH because it was time.

AMC Erica & Jackson = Ericson

DAYS Bill & Laura = Blaura

AW Mac & Rachel = MacRac

Santa Barbara Mason Capwell & Julia Wainright = Capright

Bill raped Laura on DAYS, so *NO* for a ship name for them.     Doesn't matter to me that it was written as them falling in love later on and having children.  I still would not have shipped them, nor given their relationship a name.

I certainly understand that. I am one who says that a relationship that begins with rape should not be eligible for the adjective iconic. I cannot even begin to grasp that Bill Bell said he thought that sex was consensual. 

Just as a point of DAYS historical nitpick, Bill & Laura were first in love years before that awful night.

Ah, that is a name I can give to so many couples. Especially on the The Bold And The Beautiful.  

What was the last murder trial on a soap opera?  Not just a murder, but a full murder trial.  Why did soaps stop writing murder trials?  They used to be a great way to stir the pot on almost any soap opera.

I'd say they stopped for 2 reasons.

1) The head writers of soaps today can barely write a coherent storyline period let alone something as complicated as a murder.

2) To go to trial, that would mean they'd have to have a courtroom set. And, these days, it seems that, if the set doesn't exist, it ain't being built. So unless there's a soap today that already has a courtroom, they probably just don't have the money to do the storyline. Maybe?

They seem reasonable assumptions.

Also, to do a trial properly over several episodes you would need the jury, two attorneys, judge, spectators (cast members and extras)etc. Too much expense involved.

Y&R did an awful court episode a few years ago with Amanda in the witness box. She was in the witness box but that was all that was shown. It looked terrible and of course, cheap as hell.
