I do wonder even if they made changes with Brooklyn, would it make a big difference? They recast Kristina with a popular actress who seems willing to take risks and the story was a huge failure and she seems hated by a lot of viewers through no real fault of her own. The other women in her age range like Sasha and Willow have more active sex lives but those also aren't presented with passion.

Gio being Dante's son seems like it could be overshadowed now unless the writing is much more layered than one would think - if Rocco feels insecure and draws closer to Lulu (or Cody), if Danny lashes out over Dante spending more time with a total stranger than him, etc.

As Chase is at least pretty and willing to take off his shirt I would say they could pair him back up with Willow or Sasha (or was he never with her) or even Maxie, but who knows.

A huge part is they seemed to simply saddle Kate Mansi with a prewritten, timewaster story like the surrogacy which isn't any good for anyone. For a number of months IIRC she did very little, which led people to question why she was even hired. I think she is talented and has done good work in the role in the spring and early summer before things went really south, but she's being sabotaged by the worst kind of material. If they're not trying to assassinate the character then they desperately need to retool. Frank of course hates to do that.

I like Gio as I've said before, but I see no reason for him to be a Bensonhurst love child who will only unnecessarily age Dante and BLQ further. The (relatively) 'younger' and actual young adult characters on this show are staid and desexualized enough as is. He could be anyone's kid down the line if he really has to somebody important's, but I'd sooner they just keep playing him as the happy wanderer/stud with Trina, etc. If they ever let him take his shirt off. Anyway, it's just another unnecessary blood connection to me right now.

Willow, Sasha and Chase are all tiresome nobodies to me. I'd write them all out in various ways and probably kill Chase to send BLQ spiraling (and likely recast). Though I'd have Willow kill Drew and frame Nina, as I've said before.

Nobody is asking for Amanda Setton to do 'side nudity.' But she is playing a younger woman on a soap opera in a genre driven by intimacy and passion. She conveys none onscreen.

Whether some of us spend a lot of time on social media or not, we don't know these people personally. They are not our friends. People are allowed to criticize the show, the actors, the stories and it doesn't mean that not blindly agreeing with anything it does will get the show cancelled, or that to be nice you have to want to make sure everyone stays employed.

Lol!  No one is asking Amanda Setton to perform nude.  Just basically do what every actor on soaps does and act out some romantic and sexy times?  There have been several women on soaps decades older than AS that played romance believably and they weren't showing anything 'sexy'.  They were just acting like they enjoyed sex.  Setton doesn't look comfortable with the idea.

This isn't about her beliefs.  This is a business and a televised show.  She really doesn't get to decide how she's portrayed especially if it's a detriment to the actual character.

If they can’t commit to love and intimacy scenes the same as any other character on the show, then these types of scenes should not be written. This is not real life, and no actor gets to dictate how much effort they pour into certain scenes vs. others.

i’d gladly write Brook Lynn and Chase out, and have Brook Lynn return solo with an actress that can commit to all aspects of the character regardless of her personal religious beliefs.

I honestly asked the same question when I found out he was leaving and when he died instead of Maxie being a pregnant widow at 29. I believe RP didn't tell them until Nov after the story was already written. Plus someone had to be sacrificed on the alter of Bootleg Juiliard so he can be "relevant" have a relationship and Maxie & Naxie were the sacrifical land for FV pet. His girlfriend wanted him to be on the show and have a job so much she should have took him and be paired with him. She could have carried him for 4 years and bonus no Paxie or Carson win win.

I'm glad my Naxie got a baby it's the only one of her kids that isn't a plot point baby, a means to prop someone and their shitty relationship, or done to push 2 people who couldn't get back together on their own merits so the cliche offensive 1950s thinking of a woman has a kid with man they must be together [!@#$%^&*]. James is every bit Maxie with his daddy's heart and softness. I'm glad for now they remember that is Maxie baby instead of being a prop for Cody who shouldn't exist. He's my girl karma for her hell raising rebellious mouthy teenage early 20s giving Mac gray hair years. I thought it would be Georgie since both her mamma & namesake were wild as hell in their teenage years but unfortunately not she is a glorified extra. Now Bailey shouldn't exist especially cause her only purpose was to tie Bootleg to a legacy. They don't even show her they recasted her for 1 day for JJY/Mac return and promptly went back to acting like she doesn't exist. Wtf is the point this is one of the things that I hate about FV. He created something no one asked for. They should have just gave her to Brooklyn and Chase or in the process of kidnapping her PLP gets in a accident and she dies. Maxie goes scorched earth and kills Bootleg. 2 stones with one bird and gives wise to dark Maxie which is better than anything she is doing now.

I don't know why they didn't cast JS as Nathan instead of shitting on my girls best relationship and best chemistry so someone's hugely loathe abomination of boy toy who can't act their way out of a paper bag could have a story at the very expense of her and Anna.

    • He also lost the woman he was going to marry, under very sudden circumstances.
    • I agree.  Rena doesn't seem to mind the lighter workload and seems happy though. Strangely, a lot of the veteran cast are without viable love interests-Sonny, Nina, Lois, Jason, Tracy, Alexis, Carly (Brennan doesn't count).  The show lacks serious interest in romance.
    • I just can't wait until next week when we can go back to a full weeks worth of episodes. 3 episodes and a mid-week gap has been so difficult to deal with, especially in light of how good the show is.
    • I always hoped they'd change Parker's paternity back to Phillip.  I guess it doesn't matter since Chloe is off the show currently.  I don't recall Holly or Maggie mentioning Parker, so it's not they are close to him.
    • I’ve reached the summer of 1998.  Until now, my impression has been that the show has steadily improved since the great quality dip of 1994, reaching as high as 8/10 in 1997. Sure, I could complain about a few things in 1997 (Claudia got wasted after her initial storyline; Thorne’s feelings for Taylor were a bit too sudden; the storyline where Sheila lived with James and Maggie while pregnant got rather boring; Mike periodically revisiting Sheila despite being on the run from authorities), but overall it was a very strong year.  I liked the Thorne/Taylor/Ridge triangle, the mystery plot about who shot Grant, the sham wedding to trap Sheila, Stephanie/Eric/Lauren, and Clarke manipulating his way back to working at Forrester. I even liked the Greenland storyline with Eric/Lauren/Rush, although I had expected to hate it. Maybe 1996 tops 1997 in raw soapy excitement (especially as Sheila got a chance to interact with a larger canvas of characters), but certain problems with overall storyline cohesion puts it somewhat below 1997 for me. Unfortunately, early 1998 has turned out to be a bit of a speedbump, perhaps on par with 1995 levels of quality: - Maggie’s character really got trashed after James left her to be with Sheila, and the early 1998 storylines where she imprisoned Sheila in the house from Psycho, or installed those wires and mikes and such in her house to make her think she’s going crazy, were total GARBAGE. So much so that the latter storyline (and Maggie with it) pretty much disappeared into a limbo.  - I have mixed feelings about the twins plotline with Lauren. No way did Rush survive being shot with a crossbow through the chest, and the romance between Lauren and Rush’s good twin brother Johnny was rather dry to me. I did however enjoy the camp aspect of Rush taking his brother’s place to be with Lauren, and Eric rescuing her. But it doesn’t appear like Bell cared too much about the Johnny/Lauren romance beyond the twin storyline gimmick, and it too disappeared in an unsatisfactory manner (come on, why not hire Johnny’s actor for just 5 more episodes for an arc where he realizes Lauren is not over Eric, or JUST SOMETHING?) - Clarke wormed his way back to FC in late 1997, which had exciting storytelling potential, but then he disappeared almost entirely. Sad to see my favorite character wasted in this manner. Does he get anything interesting to do between now and the Morgan saga of 2000-2001? - The Thomas saga was entertaining in 1997, but it got stretched out too much, and made some of early 1998 tiresome, with Ridge having to decide YET AGAIN which woman he wants to be with. On the plus side, I like the plotline of Thorne being neighbors with Macy and Grant, and we’ve finally been introduced to the SORASed Rick/Amber/CJ crowd. The Stephanie/James/Sheila triangle is also starting, and it makes me excited (I remember seeing some if it in my childhood). I know Sheila, Grant, and James are all leaving soon, which I honestly kind of dread - between them and Clarke’s near-absence, it feels like herd is going to get culled too much in the near future. But I know there’s the familiar 1999-2002 to look forward to.
    • LOL - this is a perfect description, and that's what I loved about it! May be a bit campy, but it immediately caught my attention in a good way.  I'm not familiar with the Fishing Trip storyline, I'll have to look that up. I've noticed that about Josh, which has made him less attractive to me overall. He just yells a lot when he's not happy. Wow, Reva was married to HB!  LOL - "Always... eventually, and again"
    • I love your ideas. I would love to see Jack grown up this confused unhinged individual. He should hold a grudge against both Brooke and Taylor.

    • Lois's return has been a bust. So disappointing that the writers have never written for her. As with Tracy, the pool of GH vets is so thin, there's no one to pair her with. Doubtful they would go to the trouble of properly recasting a legacy character and then sticking  him with Lois; they're obviously not that invested. If she wants to be on this show, it'll be as a noisy grandma who stays in the background.
    • I love me some Anita and TT. They need to give her a good storyline and I know that it's coming.
