Tried to locate the video on youtube but sadly it may have been removed, but I found the scenes of Veronica trying to kill Nikki at the Newman Ranch on Y&R to be not just thrilling but scary (and Veronica's overall look creepy). It was so scary to watch in real time as a kid, and rewatching it today it's a tour de force in directing.

I agree - that was a genuinely disturbing moment, both the direction and the chilling performance from Candace Daly. There was something incredibly unsettling about the entire storyline, even before the shooting - you could tell Veronica was NOT going to be one of Bill Bell's signature unhinged schemers who would go on to become fun or a quasi-heroine.

The audio used to be on YouTube but I don't see it now - the scene of Suzanne screaming and screaming as she is gaslit by a "dead" Katharine (including putting a tarantula in her room, IIRC) is very frightening, likely helped by not being able to see it.

Similarly, this clip being so busted helps add to the horror vibes, especially Jill's fantasy/nightmare about meeting her baby.

One of my earliest soap memories is Maggie drowning on Falcon Crest. It's just a scene of sheer panic that's always stuck with me for some reason.

I just watched it a few months ago, for the first time, and it terrified me lol

That traumatized me so much. I was way too young to be seeing it. I tried to watch a bit again when I saw it on YT but just couldn't.

It's the kind of scene that nightmares are made of.
