Update: Days of Our Lives 90's  daily recaps have been either confirmed or saved

General Hospital 90's daily recaps have been all saved under their new web address.

General Hospital is the only soap that has the new updated design as of today.  The yearly recap webpages have not been updated with the new design but the daily recaps pages have been updated with new design and have brand new webpage address.

This is causing a problem with the Internet Archived. Within Internet Archived, any daily recaps that were not previous saved with the old web address is currently not linking to the new web address making it appeared those recaps were not saved.

Unfortunately as of right now, the only way in the future to see the newly saved daily recaps within Internet Archive is changing the dates at the end of the web address.

For example;

For January 04, 1999 -

https://web.archive.org/web/20240807204513/https://www.soapcentral.com/general-hospital/general-hospital-weekly-recap-for-990104

For January 11, 1999 - https://web.archive.org/web/20240807204505/https://www.soapcentral.com/general-hospital/general-hospital-weekly-recap-for-990111

In other words, you might just want to use HTTTrack or saved pages that you want to keep.

Thank you for all this, amazing work! Didn't realize that you also did the Soap Opera Saga blogspot which I remember well!

I'm actually glad they are at least keeping the archived recaps for GH. That gives me some hope.

He says that all the while it keeps saying you need to verify you're human on any page you go too lmao

Yep, and I guess I'm not a human, since it couldn't verify me. 🤣

Dan Kroll releases a statement

I started reading Dan's site in 1990s, back when it was called "amcpages.com". He started out with just AMC information. He changed the site name to "soap opera central" when including other soaps, then soapcentral. For years I kept the site in my browser bookmarks as amcpages.com -- and whenever I clicked on that bookmark, it would automatically send me to soapcentral.com.

I started to cry at the end of this selling-the-site announcement youtube, because he concluded the video with the AMC theme music. It felt full circle.

I just finished One Life To Live.

I have either confirmed or saved the Daily Recaps for all the canceled soaps that was on the site (there were broken links that could not be saved but mostly from One Life to Live).  I just finished One Life To Live.

Update: Completed all of The Young & The Restless + The Bold & The Beautiful 90's Recaps.

Another World

Sunset Beach

Passions

Port Charles

Guiding Light

As The World Turns

All My Children

One Life To Live

Interesting side notes:

*Passions was the only canceled soap that had all their daily recaps previous saved.

*Guiding Light and As the World Turns seemed to had the least saved.

*Recaps from the 1990's were almost never saved from all the soaps.

Thank you so much @JWDrama1980!!!

It's a nice message from him. I have been visiting the website for sooooo long. Probably since early 2000s, because that's when I got internet on my computer when I was back in high school, and when I discovered the world of soaps online. So I can imagine how emotional this is for him and I can imagine how difficult it became to run it on his own. I hope this company, while changing the website layout, does not delete the content. Because that would be really sad. Good luck to Dan though!

Dan's last day at Soap Central was Friday, August 9, it appears.

Ah, so he is leaving the site after all? In his video he says he is remaining with the website. Or at least, that was my understanding.

I remember a poster named Indiafan. He was great poster and all around nice guy. He left SOC and went to the GL Buzz boards. I think his name was Trent or Travis. I lost contact with him. I wonder if @Dan knows what happened to him. Once the GL Buzz boards closed he disappeared.

To be honest, I don't really remember who that is. I'm surprised SOC lasted as long as it did. It was pretty much a cess pool even when I was active in the soap world way back when.

Thanks anyway for responding!😂

Soap Central has officially changed its front page to the new format as it fully integrates itself into Absolute Sports and the layout the company uses for sites it owns such as Sportskeeda.

That said, there seems to be an effort to retain the Who's Who and About the Actor bios with links to the pages remaining under each show's menu list. Currently, the Who's Who continues to display pages using the old Soap Central design and the About the Actors page is not a page at all - it only lists the individual .php files for each actor. Also, the pages for the canceled soaps remain active, although the new website does not link directly to any of them.

I can also add: older articles are still there, but you can't easily obtain them. I appreciate the re-design, as it was very much needed, but this does feel a bit... different!

It's looks better but it's so dumb to have outdated articles that you can click on cause people don't pay attention & think it's new and run with it.

I like what they did with the recap pages as it looks like they went and re-formatted the ones for the current shows, and even sorted them by year (later, month):

B&B
https://www.soapcentral.com/bold-and-beautiful/bold-and-beautiful-recaps

DAYS
https://www.soapcentral.com/days-of-our-lives/days-of-our-lives-recaps

GH
https://www.soapcentral.com/general-hospital/general-hospital-recaps

Y&R
https://www.soapcentral.com/young-and-restless/young-and-restless-recaps

It also looks like they are working on new actor bios. You can see it only when you click on the links tagging actors at the bottom of article pages (quick links).

Example: Kate Mansi
