Days was renewed through September 2025 which means that the new writers material airs for about six months before then. I wonder if Peacock has already decided not to renew passed then and these new writers are there to write the exit while Ron takes over Y&R head writing duties.  Just speculation.

Days is one of the top streaming shows on peacock app so it is doing very well

Again, I must quote someone & agree, wholeheartedly!!! That he chose to use Nancy & Craig to tell that particular story was a travesty!!

To quote Leslie Charleson, it was not necessary

Same and if they have to recast Will, so be it.

If Chandler Massey doesn't want to return then they could recast with Christian Massey.😂

He did play Will before....

I doubt Chandler would be upset.😂

Days is so cheap to make and stays in the Top 10 (often in the Top 5) on Peacock, so I wouldn't be concerned about it's renewal. It's one of the few things driving year round subscriptions and the price point makes it an obvious choice to stay. One year of Days costs less than any of their 8-10 episode limited series.

Also, I would be open to Ron at Y&R, but I can't see them making a change although it would be smart considering The Gates is coming. They should be working overtime to get the Bell soaps in tip top shape so the ratings are strong to be a good lead in. Personally I'd put Ron at B&B where he'd absolutely shine, but Brad Bell has a hold on that show despite phoning it in.

It's not going to happen, fortunately.

Brash and Cwikly's was well regarded at the time, but Corday cited an inability to maintain budget as the primary issue why they were let go claiming the stories were too expensive with a shifting in the number of sets and such.

And this is where we have to call bull— on Corday’s part, because then Higley proceeded to go overboard (mystery goop!) followed by using the Serial Killer story as a justification to cut budget by cutting cast (then hired almost everyone back and more!) while JER himself got a fancy six year contract the show had to continue to payout all the way to the fall of 2009 when they were just paying to the estate by that point.

Ken’s budget management skills have always sucked. I use to hate he always painted himself as some knight in shining armor while blaming everyone else for stuff he clearly rubber stamped on.

Meaning we'll likely continue to see Theresa.

Not for at least another 5 years. I don't want these writers to bring her back unless they have a real plan for her. If they want to continue to write her as a scheming gold-digger, then write her as one. But if they actually want her to be a loving but flawed mom, then write her as one. They need to pick a lane and stick with it because they can't have it both ways. Also, who is she even going to be paired up with? Brady is never going to want anything to do with her and neither will Alex. If Theresa continues to be a gold-digger, I can definitely see her gravitating towards the DiMeras and setting her sights on E.J., but I don't know how long her and E.J. are even going to last.

I didn't understand what he meant at the time, but I think that was really the start of the changing in the daytime landscape in terms of how people were looking at the shows from a production standpoint. When Brian Frons stated that "Port Charles" was being cancelled because it was not cost effective rather than there weren't enough viewers, we had entered a point where the viewers didn't matter. What we go in the slimmed down 2008-2011 era (which I really enjoyed) seemed to be what Corday was striving for in 2003 , but wildly missed.

Hiring everyone back wasn't the original plan though, was it? And those that came back I imagine had a smallerguarantee than they left with, but I don't know that for sure.

I would never argue Corday's management is questionable, but I don't think he was making up the issues with the budget. What do you think was the actual reason then for firing Paula Cwikly and Peter Brash and hiring Higley?

Who says she needs to be paired with someone? I'm tired of this try-hard, bullshït story that people need to be paired in order to be on a canvas in soaps. That's idiotically stupid. And Theresa, at her introduction, was a schemer, so that is within her character to its inner-most core since Jen Lilley debuted in 2013. And characters have gotten over worse than what Theresa has done on this soap over the past eleven years; stop playing naïve.

I agree. This way of thinking has gone out of fashion loong time ago. We are not living in the supercouple era anymore.
