The head writer for the last seven years has left the Peacock sudser and is being replaced by Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford. The changes are effective immediately.

Episodes written by Carlivati will air through April of 2025 due to the show’s unique tape-to-air schedule

Finally!!!!!

I wish their replacements the best. I hope one of the first things they do is get rid of Ron's pet Leo and to try to bring back at least 1 or 2 of Sonny, Will, Paul or Andrew full time.

Weird…I was just thinking too that this has probably been his longest HW gig.

I don’t watch Days that much but I know Paula Cwikly had a fairly successful stint writing the show in 2002/2003 , so maybe that’s promising?

If he was fired, he has absolutely no one to blame for this but himself. You can only shoot yourself in the foot so many times before you look down and see that you don’t have any feet left.

It was.

And if you count JER’s two runs separately, he’s the second longest running head writer in Days history, behind Bill Bell.

Crazy, but RC was definitely out of any creative ideas at this point.  I can't believe we won't see new head writing until May 2025 lol.

Thank goodness. This show is overdue for some fresh writing, and the aspects of Ron's DOOL that I genuinely enjoyed his first few years have been overshadowed by his reliance on the same devices and "humor." He's clearly burnt out.

The “effective immediate” verbiage is always interesting in these press releases.

I assume it has something to do with his contract status.  But, it is not as if anyone infers that he gave two weeks notice, and now he's going to show Paula and Jeanne Marie how the copy machine works before he leaves. 🙄

Also, gotta love the illusion to DAYS's nine month “unique tape-to-air” schedule.

I loved Paula Cwikly and Peter Brash's work in 2002 and early 2003. This sounds promising.

And yes, this is needed. Carlivati only has so many tricks that he repeats over and over.

Sometimes I wonder how much better a Possession 2.0 would've been under someone else's pen. We knew they'd revisit it one day; it's just a shame it was done in such a jokey, gimmicky, unserious manner.
