I should have started this thread a few days ago, and I apologize if we've done it before. Who do we pick as the soaps' top pop?

Iris's "Da-dd-ee" was a wonderful father to her, to Paulina, as if to Matthew, and to Amanda..

On GL Josh Lewis was a wonderful father, and at times only parent, to Marah & Shayne and as if to Tammy & RJ.

On DAYS Tom Horton was both a wonderful father to their 5 & a wonderful grandfather, too.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a soap father who hasn't shared a lover (or two) with his son (see Palmer Courtland, Asa Buchanan, Adam Chandler, HB Lewis, CC Capwell, etc…).  But, that feels like a low bar in order to be named 'Best Dad'.  So, I would nominate Bo Buchanan.  While he was supportive, but not present for Drew and David's childhood, the relationship with Matthew was memorable.  What I recall the most are the final episodes of OLTL when Bo talked to Matthew about the honor of fatherhood.  Matthew was scared about becoming a father while he still felt irresponsible, much like Bo when Drew as conceived.  But, rather than preach at Matthew, or chastise him for making poor choices, he talked about how fatherhood had improved his life, and his hopes that it would do the same thing for his son.

Tom Horton for sure.

I'd throw John Black in the mix despite all the brainwashing, disappearances, misguided attempts to seduce Kristen for Brady's own good, etc.

Oh, I have always said John Black should be Father of the Year over all soaps!!!

Bob Hughes and Mac Cory will always be top-tier for me. Both exuded warmth and papa bear energy that is unmatched. Furthermore, I have tremendous respect that both men raised and acknowledged kids that were not biologically theirs as their own (i.e. Andy and Matthew).

Mac Scorpio hands down 👏🏾 Ani't no one beating him best dad ever in Soaps 👑 Took on at first being a step dad to Maxie while In a relationship with Felicia, even went as far to track down Frisco deadbeat ass when she was dying. Then became the only father Georgie has known and had, then took up the mantle of raising them while their flaky ass mamma chased after Luke musty deadbeat raping ass. Became the only parent they had when their mamma dipped(yes I know there were BTS shenanigans in Felicia case)like their deadbeat sperm donor. Eventually became the best parent either girl ever had. Was there rock, support system, unconditional love through thick and thin, hell and back, through tragedies and good times. That Man is their Father

I’ll throw my vote in for John Black as well. With the soaps I’ve watched over the years, he’s literally one of the only genuinely good dads and people. The abuse he took from Sami for 20+ years and he still loved that woman from raising her.
