Considering I cried during the Liz/Finn scenes? Nah, it really hit home. Liz was acting the way I did when my significant other's drinking went out of control. Knowing someone is different than being that someone. It's also a serial, remember, so there very well could be more scenes which shot it.

But the confrontation between Liz and Finn, her fear and him insisting that he's fine and that she wont take Violet was very, very real. But these few outbursts and regrets, as you put it, is always ALWAYS a sign that a relapse is underway.

All of the ratings suck.

Again, that's just not how it hit for me.  It was rather dull.  I do appreciate your perspective though and it's different from knowing people and being that person of course. We are all internet strangers/friends/casual posters and it's very brave of you to share your personal story.  I would rather not share mine.  I truly respect your journey and don't want to sound crass or unsympathetic, but I don't think your own experience and feelings plays out to the entire audience.   I certainly wasn't crying or even that enthralled, but everyone does have a different awareness and I respect that.  Honestly, though, keep doing what your doing and keep fighting for your own health and sobriety because that's a lot more important than Finn and Liz.

6.5.2024

HW: Elizabeth Korte & Patrick Mulcahey

BDW Or SW?: Cathy Lepard (Cathy is the only other writer listed. So Perhaps PM did the BDW)

DIR: Robert Markham

The funeral was solemn but I liked it

Loved Tracy and Alexis

Glad to see Jake & Aidan

Think they are inching to a Elizabeth/Finn Break Up

Glad Blaze told off her Mom & that Kristina showed up

Wish Molly/Kristina would stop playing the same scene over & over again.

I thought the scenes surrounding Gregory's death with Finn lashing out at Liz were very good. My only issue is that downward spiral should not have been staggered out as much, where people just kept talking about the one drink for days. I still suspect the reason the brakes haven't been fully taken off yet is because FV intervened to save Easton after PM quit, just as I fully expect him to do with JPS/Valentin. But now he's drinking again, so maybe it's on.

Concerned about Tracy keeping the shades on.

Their mother looked amazing. They cleaned up nice.

From your keyboard to Soap Jesus!

So glad Blaze showed a little bit of frustration & anger at that idiocy. And, yes, never have I ever been so glad to see Kristina show up!

Don't blame them! It's the writers.

Well, I guess got to the start of the Finn drinking mess in my viewing and I'm just happy to FINALLY see conflict between Liz and Finn and that it was organically done AND made some sense versus history that happened off screen or took from what was clearly a Liz story.

One can hope.

Almost done with today's episode. I wish we had intercuts between Natalia and Blaze in the sound booth and the man they were with looking on -- wondering what the hell was going on. Or we could see him kicking back while eating popcorn and chugging a Dr Pepper.

It'd be great fun if Natalia told Blaze she was being homophobic in the recording booth to 'get the emotion out' of her so it would be more powerful. But have it where Natalie actually convinces her by talking about how she truly sees the love between Blaze and Kristina. And provides examples and so forth. But, the audience knows she manipulative.

It would give her more depth and complexity. Character depth/complexity doesn't always mean 'likeable' sides. To me it means a greater psychological profile.

Eventually, I would want Natalia to start giving Blaze pills to kill fatigue. Now, that would be a fun story!

I also wondered about that.  The name that popped into my head was Patrick Drake.  I am not sure if they ever labeled him an addict, but he was abusing pills for a little while when he thought Robin had died.  After he stopped, we would still see him drinking from time to time.

Interesting.  I definitely thought Curtis.  Does Finn even know Patrick?

Anyhow, I have pretty much given up on the show.  I feel like I sat through some boring PM work just because I thought it would change eventually and now I am mostly apathetic.  The show hasn't really declined in quality.  I just don't have much hope anymore and struggle to get through episodes.

-- Giovanni Mazza (Gio) is solid. Good casting, and I hope we get more of the violin.

-- Kirsten Storms is looking good.

-- That Metro Court pool makes me laugh. They try so hard to pretend it's a real pool with depth when it's obvious it's a wading pool.

-- Eva LaRue is spending way too much time in the tanning booth. She's as dark and red as a lobster.

    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
    • Don't know if this exactly fits here, but it is connected: Does this abandoned building look familiar? It is one of those explorer videos - and the outside may look VERY familiar if one watched GH in the '70s and '80s!

    • So, I have been in the hospital all week. I am close to being up to date on my soaps. Now I have to go to the Infusion Ctr daily to get IV antibiotics, for 6 weeks. I am frankly exhausted. A hospital is no place to be when you're sick. Hooked up to machines that go beep beep beep all day & night long. Someone wakes you up every hour on the hour for something, either to stick you with needles or to take your gosh-awful blood pressure for the umpteenth time. So, you don't get any sleep. Now I have a central line, upper right chest. After they "installed" it, I said, I am now Borg. They just stared at me. Apparently scifi is not general knowledge. What happened? I have an infection inside my big toe right foot & it burned the skin on my foot. The burned skin is already better. It was like a bad sunburn. The infection inside the toe is the issue. Oral antibiotics won't even get its attention. So, IV antibiotics plus time.

As Salem bids farewell to John Black on Monday, the "Days" family and fans say a final goodbye to Drake Hogestyn.   From his time as a young man playing baseball in the minor leagues for the New York Yankees to his almost four-decade run as John Black, Drake always did his best. And, while becoming a soap opera icon, he spent almost 40 years at "Days" telling the best stories and taking the younger cast under his wing to make sure they would do their best as well. Thank you, Drake, for the legacy you have left for everyone at "Days." The impact you made on the cast, crew and fans will never be forgotten...and that's a fact.
    • I found an interview with Joseph Breen (Will Jeffries) where he mentions that Reva was put in a coma so Zimmer could go to Hollywood to do a pilot (OMG, if ONLY it had been picked up, LOL) and that Sonni and Josh and Will became a popular with the audience while she was out of commission.  If you want to read the whole thing: https://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewarticle.asp?id=47394 Breen was known for being very candid in interviews, I wish I could find more of them. I seem to recall he made a couple of snarky comments about Zimmer, implying she was not above acting like a diva. Sounded to me like he had a lot of respect for Forbes (who went on to have a very strong and varied career after GL).
    • I was so confused why Devon was prying into Nicks love life and then it clicked and I remembered they’re brother-in-laws. Shows how little I pay attention to this show anymore. I was like uh? Do these two even know each other this well?
    • The Bell soaps, B&B and Y&R: cannot watch. If I went by the last time I did I would have to give them both D- but I really don't think it counts when you're not a daily watcher.  DAYS: B+ (Now this is with the knowledge that for years I have given this show a D- because I've been a fan for too long to give it the F it deserved.) GH: A+ (With Korte driving this bus to me the show is so much better! IMO we just had the best NB in so many years I cannot count!) BTG: A solid (Things I love, a few I do not, nothing I hate, still find it in general remarkable.) As always, thanks for doing this thread. I count it. I always look for it & I always post.
    • Okay, I continue to maintain that what is so good about this particular reveal followed by umbrella storyline is that you can see & understand many different points of view where there is not one bad guy or one 100% right person.  About your stated opinion, that Lois & Gloria did the right thing, you know that this was technically an illegal adoption? For it to have been legal the father, if known, would have to have been informed & have signed off on terminating his own paternal rights. And, of course, it is clear how many people they lied to.  Personally I feel like Lois is going to take the biggest "public" blame with Lulu a close second in the blame category. I am looking forward to a tongue lashing I hope Brook Lynn gives to Gloria. I continue to be more than annoyed with Dante. First his attitude toward Gio with regards to Rocco & a drinking game & its results. Second his attitude toward Lulu. Meanwhile enjoying the show every day!
    • Lois and Gloria did the right thing I feel knowing it was Camila that raised Gio has BL feeling some jealousy No one is saying that Camila was a bad mother to Gio I believe it will be Gio saying that Camila was great to him, thanking Lois and Gloria to get BL to see truth
