I suspect for the older/veteran actors based in LA or NYC, doing a grueling daytime show produced in Atlanta might not be in the cards. It will definitely be interesting to see if they do land any “big” veteran performers.

I imagine it would be cheaper to survive in Atlanta which might entice people to move. So many actors, including soap stars have already migrated to Atlanta due to the amount of jobs available.

I think it would be wise to have some experienced performers in the cast, especially some who are experienced in the soap format.

It's difficult enough to get a show off the ground without dealing with a cast of newbies who've never worked under those conditions.

I'm sure at B&B having Flannery, McCook, Storm,Lauren Koslow and even Lesley Woods set a tone for professionalism and work ethic.

I wonder if Betty’s background as a singer will be utilized and if they expect her to bust a tune from time to time. They had to have given that character a singing background for a reason, I guess? If so, it’s probably best to cast a theatrically trained actress for a part like that, but then again, plenty of singers based in Atlanta as well.

I think of Betty as a Dominique Devereaux type. Dominique did sing a tune a couple of times on Dynasty but it wasn't an overwhelming occurrence. I suspect they'll incorporate a song or two into Betty's space from time to time. Perhaps even create a whole storyline to involve her singing ability.

I don't think Victoria Rowell sings, but if she did get the role of Betty, they could change her back story to mirror Rowell's being a ballerina and incorporate that. It would lend itself nicely to the wealth they're trying to portray.

Hopefully Betty will get a name change by the time the show airs.

Even Bettina would be an improvement.

What’s wrong with the name of Betty?

I like it. It's not a super flashy name at all but that's why it works. This rich glamourous black queen with a most ordinary name.

Betty could have come from a working-class background, and I am assuming her singing career never really took off.

I adore the name Betty. And Betty Jackson just... sounds menacing and like someone you shall not cross. Love it.

I know she hasn't done daytime, but another name came cross my mind was Jasmine Guy. She does live in Atlanta, and she is a triple threat as actress, dancer and singer. But I wonder if they want Betty to be played by someone with Daytime experience?

Jasmine Guy would be solid, and the headline of Guy joining her first daytime soap in the first new daytime soap in decades, could be smart marketing.

The choice of Jasmine Guy reminds me of when she played that catty role on Melrose Place all those years ago. I really liked her on there so her as a candidate for Betty is very sound.

Possibly - MVJ and Jeresa follow each other on Instagram, so they seem at least friendly. Yes, they both worked at B&B, but there’s usually no reason for a scriptwriter and costume designer to interact unless they’ve build a relationship.
