Well, it can't be my dream storyline - an interracial, same-sex marriage - because that's on the show already (...right?).

There is one thing I *think* Errol's announcement will be but I'm not going to say it and jinx myself. Whatever it is, I'm happy to hear there's more good news coming!

So that's positive, right? It shows the potential audience for BTG is there. Errol, do you think CBS will be happy as long as BTG beats The Talk's numbers, or would they be looking for them to beat the TPIR reruns, too?

Beyond the Gates has to at least outperform reruns of The Price is Right, otherwise it will be a cause for concern.

When a network can air reruns of a show that gets the same or better ratings than an original show that costs you 30-50 million a year to produce, they have a problem. That's why The Talk got canned. It wasn't pulling in enough eyeballs and it had no repeat or additional financial value for CBS/Paramount.

No one was watching clips on the show's YouTube channel, and they sure as hell weren't watching the show on either CBS.com/CBS App or Paramount+. Unlike The View, there was NOTHING worth rewatching from The Talk. Their topics were terrible and uninteresting and didn't generate any buzz, much less go viral. Again, The View with its political slant had people wanting to know what they had to say about just about anything, whether it be Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Donald Trump, Taylor Swift, the Super Bowl, Kendrick Lamar and many others. At the end of the day, whether you like the hosts or not, The View gets people talking, both good and bad.

The Talk had nothing to talk about. At least nothing memorable.

I'd also argue that there was too much instability and unfamiliarity in the hosting chairs.

Whenever you tune into "The View," you might not know anything about the newer co-hosts (Sunny, Alyssa, etc.), but you know who Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar are; and you know, too, that there's a very good chance you'll see them on the show that day.  "The Talk" might've had that in the beginning, with Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Julie Chen, Holly Robinson Peete, Leah Remini, Aisha Tyler, etc.  Once those ladies peaced out one-by-one, however, and the show basically became a revolving door of little-knowns and also-rans, it became even more of a chore to watch everyday!

When Sheryl Underwood and Jerry O'Connell are the only two people on your show whom your audience recognizes even a little bit, it's time to reassess what value, if any, your show lends to your network's lineup.

Oh, and I'm sticking to my second guess: Beyonce's set to make a cameo on BTG.  You heard it here first, sports fans!

It seemed like there was a moment in time where The Talk had caught on and The View was on the backfoot for awhile. Maybe I'm wrong about that, or maybe it changed with Trump.

If repeats of The Price Is Right can outperform The Talk, I have faith there is a window of opportunity for Beyond the Gates. May it take a bit of time? Sure. But I have faith it'll happen at some point.

Honestly speaking, The Talk was relatively watchable up until the endless lineup changes. I always said the two things The Talk had over The View were: production and a consistent lineup.

The Aisha Tyler era was my favourite era for The Talk. Not so much because of her, but the show seemed to fall apart not long after her departure from a chemistry standpoint between the hosts.

Sheryl Underwood was a big Y&R fan and she always showed love to the current/former Y&R cast members that appeared on The Talk. She got all excited whenever Eric Braeden or Shemar Moore would show up.

^ Loren Lott on the YT, she wants in!

Y&R squandered Loren Lott talent. I was happy that she moved on to better things.

I remember this as well. Then the show just became known for the ugly mess with Sharon Osborne.
