Or found directors new to daytime, but much like writers, they were probably moving quickly and needed people who they knew could get the job done quickly at launch.

Or you're going to have pages in-training with those who are familiar with the medium. It's likely costly to have L.A. based directors moving to Atlanta.

Does anyone remember how Bob Guza was as a team with Millie Taggart on Loving?

I like the idea of him in the writing team. He knows how to make things interesting.

And I am happy that Ron Carlivati has joined the BTG team. He will always be the one who brought One Life back to life for me. And he made me care for GH. I don't think that he will get crazy here, because this doesn't sound like this type of show. And Days has been a joke for decades, I can't really blame him.

Unpopular opinion: A part of me wanted Ron to take over from Josh Griffith.

Was never going to happen.

"Never going to happen" does not exist in soaps. It has nothing to do whether you are an industry insider or not.
Last year a new black CBS soap was never going to happen.

A ribbon cutting took place today during the first table read for episode 1 of Beyond the Gates, written by Susan Dansby. Robert Guza Jr. is the co-head writer.

Will have photos and video up shortly.

I'm not mad at the people they've announced. The writing staff has a lot of diversity which I think is most important and I don't mind that they all have experience. Their experience varies and we need people who can do the job. I'm sure there will be room for new blood, but I'm glad that it's a diverse staff.

We know there will be more than 3 directors, so I'm sure we will see some new names pop up there especially with the show being set in Atlanta.

My understanding is Sara Bibel, Christopher Dunn, Teresa Zimmerman, Ron Carlivati and Gregori Martin are writing outlines. The script writers themselves are Susan Dansby, Lynn Martin, Danielle Paige, Judy Tate and Cheryl L. Davis.
