Much like the ratio of relatively fresh faces to veterans in front of the cameras, how I wish that consideration had been made and applied to crew on the production side.

According to FOX 5 Atlanta, a casting call was placed TODAY for the following roles, filming in November (to air in "early 2025"):

  • Casting: Country Club Men and Women, Bartender/Wait staff with real experience. Any gender, any ethnicity, any sizes, and age 21+

In honor of Clifton Davis' joining BTG.  (As always, IYKYK).

(BTW, Davis was in the original 1971 B'way production of "Two Gentlemen of Verona" w/ Jonelle Allen, so not only would I love to see him reunited with Anna Maria Hosford on BTG, but I'd love to see him share some screen time with Allen as well.  Just saying!)

Legit disgusted to see RC on staff but I trust Michele and Guza to run a tight writers room.

Between the cast reveal and the BTS pics everything feels so real now, part of me still saw this as a fever dream. A brand new soap with a majority black cast, never thought I’d see the day.

Looks like he might be a break down or a script writer

Ewwwwwwwww

Why do they continue hire loser writers like Carlivati? The is NOT good news.

Susan Dansby appears to be credited as MVJ and Guza's Co-HW.

That writing staff is...a little questionable though. No new writers, all from the recycled daytime system. I had hoped they would try to recruit new and diverse writers (even as script writers) and train them to progress up. That's a bit disappointing to me, but I understand they were probably also in a bit of a rush and needed people who could produce the work quickly and had worked under this type of system before.

Those 3 directors are sourced from within the current daytime system as well.

I’m actually surprised that Ron’s ego even allowed him to write for a soap and not be head writer lol

But if I had to pick between him and Jamey, I would pick Ron every time. He actually is a good writer when he doesn’t let his biases write for him. I just hope somebody keeps an eye on him because I’m already starting to have concerns about the way he’ll write the character of Smitty (Mike Manning’s character)

And as much I would love for Jamey to be off of Days, keep him away from Beyond the Gates!! We want this soap to succeed and not be run into the ground with cringey camp and lazy excuses and fluff in order to get the script to a reasonable length

Just curious. What's the concern, in specifics, about how you think Carlivati might handle the Smitty character?

I also love they are doing a table read, they don't do that on soaps anymore, that's refreshing

They're probably doing that to start off, but I can't imagine they'll have the bandwidth to do that for every single script given the volume of episodes to produce.

So MVJ & RG are HW's

Susan Dansby Assoc HW

Bibel to Zimmerman are BDW

 Brown to Tate are SW?

Thankfully, he's a breakdown writer, so he has no type of control and I don't see them promoting him above Val Jean, Guza or Dansby.

I think having writers, with a history in daytime, in the main writing roles is smart. Have new, fresh writers come in, as pages or assistants, and learn in the same way the likes of Danielle Paige did at Guiding Light, etc.

He's doing breakdown only; he'll write what he's told to.
