You do understand that Miss Val Jean had a hand in Generations as a writer?

I do understand. But she was only a script writer there.

It would be surprising in Michele Val Jean wasn't looking very closely at the failures made by canceled soaps and working to avoid them. She is getting a chance that most soap writers don't so she's going to get this right. The characters seem well developed and that is a good sign.

Well, she also knows first-hand from her own experience on Santa Barbara. She said this about the cancellation and what she felt could have saved it: ❝ I think we learned about the cancellation about six months before it left the air. It was heartbreaking. What could have saved it? If I knew the answer to that, we'd still have twelve soaps on the air. More viewers, certainly. Better ratings. ❞ Sounds like six-years later, she learned what the answer was, as she is giving us Beyond the Gates nearly 32-years after Santa Barbara ended.

I think that was the most honest answer anyone could have given for what, if anything, could have saved SaBa.  The truth is, SaBa could have become as good as GL or Y&R was at that time, and it wouldn't have made any difference.  I think viewers had given up on SaBa long before the network gave up on it.

Santa Barbara came on when soaps were at their peak in daytime and primetime, but ended when that era ended. Plus less people being home during the day hampered soaps eventually.

Beyond The Gates is the first soap to start during the time that streaming is possible and more people are working from home too. If the producers focus on those possible advantages then great success is possible.

NGL, I was weirdly disappointed Chandler Massey was returning to DAYS because I so desperately want him on BTG. I know it is still totally possible he can do both but I want more casting news about the men.

I am sure castings will begin coming out soon.

Chandler does live in Atlanta. He could walk to work.😂 I was hoping he'd get a role too even if it's recurring.

I was also wondering when we would hear more news about casting.

Chandler has smirked his way through snitch of his DAYS career that I have zero interest in seeing him on anything else.

Michele Val Jean noticed that someone had tweeted the revised B&B opening photos,
and commented on the B&B theme song.
Then she replied to herself with one of the GH opening themes.

Her tweets don't relate specifically to BTG, but I note her continued respect for her former workplaces.
And ... this shows that she does think about opening theme songs, so of course I wonder what will be the opening theme for BTG.

Lol. I'm glad that someone posted this particular question and that Miss Val Jean is paying attention with a response.

Plus, it feels like all he did was cry... and not very well at that. Keep him trapped in Salem, please.

Makes me wonder the kind of opening theme Beyond the Gates will have, and that gets me anxiously excited.

I don't want his smirking and laziness affecting my new show!
