I just read that the role of Rick went to Matthew Atkinson (Thomas, B&B).

I would take these "Castings" with a grain of salt unless its CBS and /or MVJ confirming them

Also the Press release they did weeks back said they want actors based in Atlanta

Actors move for gigs all the time. I wouldn't pay too much attention to the Atlanta aspect.

I hope not.

I'm rather anxious, at this point, to see the names and faces of those being cast. We are nudging closer and closer to the start date.

I would think by November we'll hear about who has been cast.

I'm really eager to start hearing some casting news as well. If they start filming at the beginning of November, I'd hope we start getting some announcements throughout October at the latest.

Would be nice if they could start announcing some of the big names to build excitement. They'll have a lot of people to announce so it would be a good way to get people buzzing about the series.

I thought about this as well, so as not to get lost in election coverage.

Mhmm; plus, I doubt they'd announce casting too early, to avoid losing the momentum. Roles announced two-months prior to filming. Casting announced two-months prior to premiere. It all makes sense.

Yeah, this had crossed my mind too. Even if it were not an election year, they want to play their cards right, don’t lay everything out on the table to early, lest the effect wear off too soon before the premiere.

Mhmm. Which is why it's kind of baffling people wanted news at the Daytime Emmys ⏤ it was too early to be promoted in that way.

CBS will probably devote one of the last episodes of The Talk to introducing the cast of The Gates, maybe alongside MVJ.

The hosts will pretend like they’re not bitter about being replaced, and Sheryl can do her fake act about how much she’s looking forward to it and will be watching from day 1.

I don't think it was baffling at all for wanting a minor tidbit of news during the Emmys since it had been a good while since first announcing it. But it no longer matters since it's finally working out for the better. The character descriptions, for example, have been quite informative.
