Frankly, no.  I think NBC is out of the soaps business - and ABC is just waiting for a good time to cancel GH and call it quits on soaps as well - as both networks are convinced 1) the audiences just aren't there anymore and 2) they could pull down similar ratings AND save money by airing yet another hour of infotainment.

I feel like ABC is more invested in GH than we sometimes think. It's live ratings hover around 2 million and it's always top ten on Hulu which suggests some interest. I know GMA3 has long been an issue for them so I could potentially see them using that timeslot for a soap in a perfect world.

I agree with you there - there's a reason why Peacock keeps renewing DAYS and why Disney is trying to figure out what to do with the All My Children brand. Having a fairly cheap production that pulls in viewers to your app on a daily basis is good for business. I don't see General Hospital being canned any time soon.

I don't watch GH on a regular basis, but I, too, don't think it's going anywhere anytime soon. It's often in the top 10 on Hulu (which is owned by Disney which owns ABC). So, it's bringing some viewers to the app on a daily basis.

We haven't heard anything, but I wonder how Neighbours is doing on Amazon.

And, they are also subscribers, which they care about, dearly.

It's interesting to me that not only does Disney own all of the ABC classic soap archives but they own Santa Barbara, too. I know that last year Jerome Dobson made a comment that there might be a possibility of it coming to streaming. But, there's been no follow-up after that one mention. Since it doesn't have as many episodes as so many of the classics, it might be more feasible but that could be far too optimistic.

I hope they are staying strong. They pretty much led the field with streaming daytime soaps.
