I didn’t see your response as a dismissal of those concerns at all. One of the things I appreciate most about this message board in particular is the fact that we can discuss these issues and I appreciate it being brought up. It is indeed early casting and I expect to see the spectrum of skin tones and shades represented. I also hope whoever is peeping our comments on this board will be reminded that we are mindful so they should also be mindful.

I admit, I didn’t pay much attention to the earlier character descriptions because I knew there would be some changes. I think of my own writing of characters and there are almost always changes.

Just a simple and positive post to say how all these announcements today have only gotten me more excited for the show. I absolutely love that Tamara Tunie will be the face of Beyond the Gates. The title change is a good sign because for the US all the most successful soaps have a soapy title, whereas something simple like 'The Gates,' where it's just a place, have usually failed. I always found it interesting that UK was the opposite, but I digress. Anyway, they truly fed us well today and I couldn't be happier.

Thank you @Errol for the titles on the main. I just woke up and the first name I saw was Tamara Tunie. OMG! YES, PLEASE. Just the right thing to wake up to because her history in soaps and the industry period is reason enough to tune in.

And I see there's been more casting news and looks pleasing and very excited for the show even more now.

Did we always know Anita/Betty was from Chicago? THR’s article gives that tidbit - MVJ is from Chicago herself, so I am assuming that Anita is at least partially based on one or more of her relatives.

Also a nice midwestern homage to the midwestern setting of the classic P&G soaps.
