Oh how I remember this, and how it was just so freakin plain. Lol. That being said, I don't stand opposed to faceless openings but make it interesting somehow. In BTG's case, show some interesting outdoor footage for the theme opening perhaps. And I stand firmly by jazzy/bluesy for the tune.

I prefer soap openings with dramatic headshots of the cast lol just adds to the soapiness of it all. Since the Bell shows still feature that I hope BTG falls in line with its companions.

To remove the need for updating I wouldn’t be mad at distinctive shots of the DC area ending with the neighborhood gates. Something similar to Coronation Street and Emmerdale would be cool

With all the talk about opening credits, I presume no-one is interested in U.K. style credits that, though distinctive, features no shots of characters. That goes for ‘continuing dramas’ such as Casualty and Waterloo Road as well.

With the sheer number of characters and regular-ish cast turnover, more ‘generic’ openings are likely most easier to manage.

The only exception is teen-aimed soap Hollyoaks.

In the last 20 years, trends have shown opening credits being reduced to either one single card being zoomed in or an extremely stylish design composition (think what they do over at Elastic).

I believe we can expect BTG to feature short opening credits, including graphics and an instantly-classic theme. Face cards are a no go in this era.

I want something that firmly establishes gates as the show’s symbol, like the DAYS hourglass or the AMC family album, and I would absolutely hate something that is clearly fake CGI crap like the current B&B opening. Those headshots are nice, but everything else? The pink roll-away fabric at the end? Garbage. I know GL’s final theme song was trash, but I very much appreciated the real footage of Peapack.

I'd say bravo to this if it comes to fruition. He was really good as Taggert on GH.

ETA: I've lurked around and discovered that the actor is 61 years old. If he lands on BTG, he's going to be Patrick almost for certain.
