Thanks to Pluto TV, I've been able to re-watch some of JHB and Barbara Esensten's work on "Dynasty."  I have to say, theirs were some of the better scripts during that show's final two seasons.

He's my age, born April '51, so we're 72.

I couldn't find an age for him and saw that Barbara Esenten was 75 when she died so thought he was older.

I wonder what is  the youngest voice  in the Y&R writing process?

I thought I posted it. He's an April something 1951 birthdate, so he's 72. I'm Feb. 1951 so I remember that he is my age.

In that case, good for him!  I think ageism is a BIG problem in the film and TV industry, so I'm glad whenever any older writer who is 50+ lands a steady gig.

I agree. But the other issue is that soaps can become a closed shop and new younger and diverse writers find it hard to break in.

And the shows can become 'old fashioned' in their attitudes.

Apparently, Janice Ferri Esser has announced her retirement at Y&R - and just like that, the last writing vestige from the Bell era is officially gone.
