I thought that I wouldn't like the old codgers, but they were mostly a welcome relief from recent episodes.  I still want more integration of Eric, Brady, and Xander in this mystery, but I am growing to appreciate 2/3 of these dudes.

John's scenes with Paul were funny and touching.  His erratic overreaction to Paul's breakup did nothing to convince people that he's not brainwashed.  At first, I misunderstood the metaphor about Andrew's preview not matching the movie (I thought John was referring to Andrew's physical attributes).   However, between his relationships with Rachel and Paul, John has become the best patriarch in soaps.

Steve's scenes with Andrew were not as convincing and left me with tons of questions.  First, when Andrew greeted him as Uncle Steve, I had to remind myself how they were related (for whatever reason initially I thought he was Alex's brother). I also wondered why an international spy agency would be headquartered in DC?  And why are we disparaging desk jobs?  Maybe Andrew is upper management and superior to those in the field?

Roman's scenes were mostly justified by exposition to catch up the audience on Megan's history.  But, why write those scenes for an actor who is such a marble mouth?  I barely understood a word he said.  And, there's such a weird vibe between Lucas and Roman because I feel like they never resolved their feelings over what Lucas did to Sami.

Wasn't Andrew born around 1991?  I know everyone's the same age now, but it seems like he would be much older than Patch or Justin's kids; historically speaking.  Time just moves differently in Salem.

Also, they could spruce up that orchid to make it look rare.  Today it looked like something you could pick up at Trader Joe's on sale for $5.99.

Agree 100% about weaving in Eric and Brady into this story.

Andrew was born in 1986, Stephanie in 1990, so he should be older, but Paul should be about the same age as Belle/Brady and Andrew and Stephanie should be older than both of them.   Theoretically Andrew should fall closer to Sami/Eric's ages and Stephanie in Belle/Brady's.

Kim and Kayla were off the show for a while - first one, then the other moved to California for several years.  Apparently they hung out together offscreen.
Cousins Andrew and Stephanie should remember each other from their childhoods there.

Also, does the fact that Megan stole the orchid exonerate Kristen?

Yeah, a month ago they were kidnapping Rachel to get the orchid, and now they seem to have forgotten about it and are mostly concerned about getting laid and brainwashing people with kitchen gadgets.

One more: Is Andrew named after Shane's doppelganger twin? Because it seems super weird to name your child after a hitman.

Isn't Kristen in jail for brainwashing Stefan?  Lol.  I totally forgot.  Probably though.

I feel like Brady/Eric have the attention spans of gnats and that's why they forgot about the orchid, but the story was actually set up for them to join it, but I am really unclear when this stuff airing was filmed.  Was it at the same time as Beyond Salem 2 or later on?  Did the show just stack up the footage of Bo, Hope, Paul, Andrew etc or did they film later?

I definitely think the kids grew up together and were close in LA.  My question would be how well would Andrew know Steve?  He was dead pretty much his entire childhood.

Yes.  That would be the assumption.  I don't think they ever appeared on the show at the same time, but when Kim with young Andrew/Jeannie in the late 90's it was said that Kayla/Kim saw one another all the time.  Since Theresa and Stephanie were around the same age I would think they were close

Yes!  And it's a bit annoying because they tend to reference a lot of family times especially with Stephanie and Stephanie was grown by the time Steve came back, so I don't understand it.  Marlena/Roman being gone is still cannon, but Steve dying seems to be forgotten and he was gone much longer.

So, Andrew is a year older than Shawn-D who has a grown kid that is a year older than Johnny and Wendy? My mind is blown.  I'm just going to pretend that doesn't exist, just like I've come to accept that EJ is Kristen's son but is somehow older than Alex who was born eight years before him.

Belle, Brady, and EJ really screw things up.  Shawn-D is fairly okay as far as age.  He was only SORASed a little bit.  I think maybe a year?  It's when the show doesn't follow the same group of characters with the same SORASing that it becomes wacky.  IMO everyone born from 85-90 should be in the same age group, 90-95, 95-00, and so on.  But when you have Abby being younger than Brady even though they were born months apart and Belle being so much older than Paul and Will being born before EJ things get really out of control as far as continuity in aging.  Days seems to be the worst at this.  GH does get a side eye for the fact Joss thought she got Jake's liver and was a baby when Jake died is a little sketchy though as well.

    • I'm anticipating most of the cast at the Nice location for a few weeks a la the Tuscan villa for Victoria and Ashland's wedding. I don't know why they bother. I'd rather see the money going into more regular home/office sets. This party has been a bust. No secrets revealed, break ups  etc. Ugly decorations and I'm going to slam the costuming again. Just the guests heaping praise on  Nikki  like she's achieved some magnificent milestone rather than just getting a year older.

In the loving arms of his wife, Dr. Marlena Evans, John took his last breath at the end of the June 2 episode, after suffering devastating internal injuries during a lab explosion. The iconic character went out as he lived — a hero. Sensing the fans’ devastation on Monday, Marlena’s portrayer Deidre Hall posted this simple-but-powerful message to fans on Instagram: “I know. I know. Hardest day ever.”

    • Now coming into June...well...   I knew it was coming but I didn't like the start to the next round of Dani/Bill/Hayley. As the 3 A plots from the start of the show (The SilkPress storyline and Martin's Secret being the other two), it needed to be benched for a while to develop those characters and allow other characters and storylines to grow. 3 months in, Hayley is the weak link, Dani is still divisive, but not boring, and Bill has been making his mark with some plots faster than others. So last week seeing the story starting to loop back around to them with Hayley's potential pregnancy, I honestly had mixed feelings.   I get it. The SilkPress storyline is currently in aftermath/next turn mode, so it has to be moved into a C plot position. Moreso if we want to keep the very talented Miss Trish around. And I love how clever the writers are being with the storyline. They give us enough in the episodes and are still playing out beats to keep the appetite fed. I don't feel like anyone is being dumbed down to keep her around. And Trish is giving nuances in her alone scenes with NuTed. I shouldn't care for a clear psycho, but she be selling it. That said...I wish they had given us a little more of the Martin's Secret storyline in the last week of the month though I loved the game of cat and mouse Bill did on Martin and Smitty to keep the storyline alive and active after it had a nice build beginning of May and vanished for a week mid-May. And it appears like it's about to go back to the backburner as an A plot which of course leaves the A plot of Dani/Bill/Hayley.   I am probably in the minority as someone who is not anti-Dani here and even she annoyed the heck out of me last week. In character true, but I just felt like there was a way to get all of that across without it feeling like...as I've said before...one step forward, two steps back...and have it feel organic. I liked Hayley got a little bit of edge with her, but she still ain't no match for Dani. And it reminds to be seen if we should be going back to that well of a story yet.   Now about today's show...   And I thought Tracy was bad! lol. But YES. Sharon has been worth the wait. And so has Anita's story! Finally having TT in the limelight. This has been a nice slow burn for me and a nice B plot. And the actress is good. The wig is giving. And her holding what Anita's secret is over her head and threatening to tell Vernon....Ooooo...that is what I was waiting for.    And speaking of bad...I thought Eva vs Kat was a great rivalry. But I am loving the rivalry that is growing with 'Nancy Drew' and Silk Press Sheila! They both get good licks in and are so cunning with each other. And I definitely have liked that since the anniversary party, that it has been growing. Now that Kat has been proven right, she has not backed down. And neither has SilkPress. And we got a 'Ms. B@tch' moment, too? LOVE. Eva coming up with a trump card was delicious and so 90s Sami Brady. GOOD. And the coda with Jacob and the expert...YES. The Silk Press storyline has been the best paced on the show so I love that the aftermath of the anniversary party continues to be so...barring one flaw...well for me. Not enough Nicole's POV.   And I like the C plots on display. And by that, I mean Chelsea with Vernon. And it made me wonder what the writers have plan for her love life now that the throuple is over with. I was watching her and going awww.   And of course the mystery man around Martin. I am starting to wonder if he really even works at the country club given how he made a run for it. That would be a twist.    Speaking of Martin...good to see him in scenes with his father and mother.    I'm getting used to NuTed.    I felt the last episode of May was a bit of a letdown, but this was a very nice recovery.
    • Unless they cut him, I'd think he would stay. Surely, he didn't choose to return because he expected high quality. I figure he gets to work when he wants and spend a lot of time doing his own thing and being with his family.
    • The writing for Liz and Lucky is indeed terrible, but if JJ signed a one-year contract he may be gone in a couple of months anyway. Perhaps they’re just cutting their losses.
    • That would be his older sister Stacey. She was the center of a big story back in the day. Nola was out to snag medical student Kelly Nelson, who she thought would provide her with the life she craved. He was in love with a girl named Morgan. Nola plotted to get pregnant by him, but couldn't manage to get him in bed. So she seduced Floyd, who thought she was in love with him. When she knew she was pregnant, she got Kelly drunk and made sure he woke up next to her in bed. Kelly believed her when she told him he made her pregnant. They were about to elope to Las Vegas, but her mother ratted her out and Kelly abandoned her. She almost married Floyd, but jilted him at the altar. She went to work for Quint. When the baby came prematurely, Kelly saved both of them. She named the baby Kelly Louise to irk Morgan, who was now married to Kelly. When she fell in love with Quint, she had a change of heart over all the trouble she had caused, so she changed the baby's name to Anastasia Louise, shortened to Stacey. Quint was a devoted stepfather and Henry treated her like his own granddaughter.  After Quint and Nola leave SF, I believe Stacey is never seen again. Which is odd, you would think they would have brought her back with Nola and J, but they never did.
