Looks like the Peacock episodes have finally begun to drop! What will our soap be like now?

And is it just me or has the day to day writing improved somewhat?

DISCUSS!

Can't really. lol.

But I do look forward to seeing you all discuss the differences. Is it something new, or GL Peacock all over again?

Idk, it just seems like they’re giving characters more in each script. Instead of rushing through everything, they’re taking their time to let some characters  show us what they’re feeling.

There’s still some stupid stuff like Leo and Rolf but overall I’ve been liking it lately.

As for Peacock, it is supposed to be something new. And several actors have said that’s a lot of money’s been invested in the show

Well, we've been having half & half episodes for about 3 weeks. And, the new cameras images began showing last week. Of course, the rooftop slideshow green screen was new & one way to have a new set that doesn't cost traditional dollars, just tech dollars. And, I think the writing has changed in some instances - and for the better. Plus, didn't we seem to have more people at the Li/Gabi wedding? Or did I just imagine that?

I've been dipping in and out. So, i haven't really noticed. Not finding anything interesting. I just find Days to be a chore to watch.

Overall, it seems as if they've adapted well to writing and producing within the streaming format.  On network, they could build to each commercial with a suspense moment, but that's gone because it is impracticable on Peacock.  Also, it feels like there are fewer scenes per episode.  But, with daily drops, they still maintain a weekly cliffhanger which I enjoy in terms of tradition.

At NBC they had to turn over the show 36-37 min. long, no wiggle room. With Peacock, they have been delivering the show between 31 min. and 47 min. The people at the studio very much like the flexibility they have now.

Interesting. I only watch B&B and DOOL, and I find that I look forward to watching DOOL more than B&B. B&B is super easy to watch, the episodes seem to fly by on Paramount+ if I'm even a week behind. I will say that DOOL can feel like a chore if I have multiple episodes to catch up on, but overall, I enjoy watching it more, maybe even for the foolish mess that it is as evidenced in that gif.

Well I'm finding this discussion extremely informative. I look forward to hearing about more of the changes you all notice.

I like very much it sounds like they are getting back to SHOWING character motivations and what not.

Well, there seemed to be a lot of, uh, peacocking in today’s episode

What’s with that blue lighting during sex scenes now? It doesn’t look good.

I liked that it seems like Stefan is going to be torn between Gabi and Chloe. I was worried that he was going to immediately get back with Gabi and they’d have no story, like Will and Sonny or Ben and Ciara. I just hope it doesn’t fall apart and get written stupidly. If it were me, I’d have Gabi try to seduce Brady in the hope that it would get Stefan and Chloe jealous.

I also guess that the show wanted us to have sympathy for Alex, but it’s not gonna work. That’s what you get for being such an awful person. I also wonder if there’s going to leave it open ended as to whether or not he and Allie had sex.

And damn, Paul Telfer’s been in nothing but his underwear for three episodes now

I hope it wasn’t cold that day in the studio

What can I say?

Its my #1 soap

    • There are no dumb questions here, we've all known each other long enough to fill in information without shaming each other.  We want you to be happy @carolineg.  Your POV as one of the few women here is vital. So, please, I hope you never feel as if any question, idea, or opinion is ever silly or stupid.
    • I think his full name is Chadwick.  I remember, back when the previous actor was playing him, someone called him Chadwick a couple of times.  It may have been Stefano.
    • I didn't like those two sleeping together, but I suuure liked seeing BF in them. Wiggle and all. Just sad about the waxing of the chest.   Same.
    • It’s strange. I wonder if the writers at that time had worked with him somewhere else and had a relationship? That time is murky AF to find info on. Rachel Ames in effect left the show at one point in the early 80’s and she is credited like she was there until JFP. Tristan Rogers also took various contract breaks that were not short, and websites also credit him one long stint from 1981-1992. So many people come and go in short succession in 1982-part of 1983. I know they lost a lot of viewers when Genie left, but the show somehow survived yearly at number one through like sheer force of will.
    • In that way, at least we were fortunate.  The Daniel Pilon/Ron Raines decisions...not so much.
    • Letting Brennan put it in yet again while smirking over his shoulder... any day now! She's got him just where she wants him! I do think ol' Jack will be dead by February at the absolute latest. They have set him up as a counter-heavy to Sidwell, forcing poor Joss to work his next scheme or threatening to have her sent down for treason. Once he croaks I still deeply fear we will be subject to Valentin and Carly, partners in crime to lovers, possibly out to find out 'who killed Jack'. Anna was at her best keeping Sonny at arm's length and often somewhat cold, which she only really did (for better or worse) off and on during Carlivati's tenure. But Finola gradually got too emotional over Sonny, Jason, etc. and was allowed to do that onscreen too much long ago. Mulcahey brought some of that steel back, though Finola still managed to choke or quietly sob through some of that material as Anna found her way there lol. She's a brilliant actress and she did a good job with that stuff in '24, but now we're back to the same old and it humiliates the character whether she knows it or not.
    • Listen, I am all for Laura Wright wearing silly wigs and glasses if there was a point.  So far she's just been nice to Brennan and made out with him.  How evil lol!!  Even though I have been told Brennan loves her the writing was never there.  It's so low stakes.  Carly should maybe talk to her daughter and have an adult conversation instead. Laura and Anna look foolish.  I really don't have an issue with either being friendly or at least having some affection for Sonny.  I don't get both of them wanting to have a parade to announce how much they love him and how valuable the friendship is.  C'mon, Laura basically tolerated Sonny because of Luke until Lulu/Dante got together.  Anna likes Sonny because Robin did?  There really isn't much more of a reason for Anna to give him the time of day besides that.  They aren't lifelong buddies.
    • It is so dumb and is dragging on already after a couple weeks. By the time Carly wraps this up Joss will be running the local branch office. And yes, Laura deserves better. It's like they tripled down on this Sonny apologia stuff with her and Anna after the Mulcahey saga.
