Fan Thoughts: What We Fans Want For GH's 60th & Y&R's 50th Anniversaries

Why Not? Maybe by a miracle, Someone from the Production sees it and tries to realize one or two of our ideas but let's all be honest on what we think would be great for The Milestones of these 2 shows that are now less than 6 months shy

Me? Oh, On Y&R some Fosters, and Brooks, and Maybe some of the Greats that started on this show reappearing, and some of the classic Music Cues and Sets Appearing

ON GH? I Honestly don't think i Know Enough to state an Opinion

I don’t want anything from GH right now. I don’t even want old fan favorites back coz they get ruined anyway. (Like Jack Wagner as Frisco at the 50Th!)

Y&R on the other hand could make me happy if they would give Jill actually something big to do. I want Jill be involved in the anniversary

It's funny you should say that.

I got a peek at one of the latest SOD. And one of the writers was talking about what we have been discussing about her here. The lack of her being in her story. The fact that she apparently vanished after the (just viewed on my end) scene of her in the stairwell. The fact she did not get a 25th anniversary episode.

I took two things from it.

1) I think she was the blind item we were discussing in the Spoiler thread about someone not waiting to return to play story. Well if the writers are adamant that this secret is tied to said legacy character well *cough*recast*cough* So it does sound like they are stalling her storyline to figure out what to do with that angle.

2) He seem adamant she wanted to do something with Liz for her 25th anniversary so it's going to be continuous throughout the year. See Number 1. If it is stalled how? And if he wanted to continue celebrating Liz's existence...they could be doing more. Lucky mentions. Tieing in her kids. Maybe flashbacks of love interests? Things to make you go hmmm.

Hehe. It does look at devil horns.

That's what it sounds to me. If it IS the case of the legacy character and they are not at all interested...it would be simple to recast, use the established history since some of the characters they interacted with are still around, and THEN build it around Elizabeth and the reveal. Kinda like how they slowly built Victor back in originally before he vanished...he had six months of story versus Scott, Anna, Valentina, and then focused it all on Laura fighting over the Cassandines.

Becky said in an interview the writers have NO idea where they're going with this story. She asked for direction for it and they basically said they were just winging it.

I'm paraphrasing of course

Sorry you don't recast Liz, you know what a backlash that would cause, that'd be like recasting Laura or Scotty

It seems like Victor's storyline was rewritten too. What happened to Drew's activation and the thing from his past that Victor needs? And Hayden's disappearance? Holly's kidnapping?

That's what I want to see for the 60th anniversary: No more dropped storylines

Well, they dealt with some of Drew's activation...rushed though it was. I honestly feel the Hayden storyline won't be brought up until it's time to write Victor out. And I was just thinking about Holly and that story thread yesterday funnily enough.

I was not meaning recast Liz silly.

I don't know if you were in the spoiler thread when those blind items drop. And I don't know who read them or not so I am purposely being vague on the contents. I would be LIVID over a Liz recast.

I think I have that interview sitting around somewhere. You now make me want to see if I do to read it. But what I read from the writer was written in the last week or so.

Emma Samms got a very bad case of "long Covid" and couldn't film.
(putting detail behind the spoiler tag so as not to derail this "future anniversary" thread.)

I guess we can hope that she's recovered enough to return to GH by the time the GH 60th anniv is filmed.

    • Justine had a lot of hooey in it, but she was an actual woman, not a guy in drag. She was a doppelganger of Rachel, French, having had a past history with Carl, etc. Two of the more outrageous parts-Justine bricking alive Vicky into a wall & Justine grinding the gears driving a big rig.
    • Hehe, twi/x actually x, formerly Twitter. Typically I find 2 sources for "crazy fan rumors" - the wrong parts of FB and x. Oy.
    • Not to hijack the thread, but was that character Justine? I just found this interview online with Logan and see what you're talking about - wow!   http://www.anotherworldhomepage.com/chat85.html
    • My bad….ill fix that  Fixed
    • Where do you discover this crazy rumor??
    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.

Melissa was here today & we went to Michael's Crafts & Ofc Depot. In Michael's there were two beautiful LITTLE girls who kept staring at me, so I gave them a littel wave & very quietly said HI & then did back. I told Melissa they were staring at me. She smiled & said "Purple. A lot of little girls love purple & you forget but you have purple hair. Seeing you their whole imaginations are transformed! Thinking "That lady has purple hair. That means I can have purple hair! They had no clue before seeing you that it was possible." I just laughed & laughed.
    • This opening scene is hilarious...it's like someone wrote out the script for Philip with one hand. And Rick...sniffing a scarf over and over. And in their next scene they are still sniffing the [!@#$%^&*] scarf as the camera stays all over Philip's bare chest and armpits as he keeps working out. Insane stuff.

Bay City better be ready, because I'm back!   At Vicky's apartment she is once again drowning in doubts and jealousy. Deep down she realizes that her dream wedding will be a farce and nothing can change that. Bridget tries to calm her down, but the heroine is determined to suffer. She is not hearing any positive thoughts. She doesn't believe Jamie will marry her. At the Cory Publishing building another farce is in process. Iris, once again pretending to be the angel of love and sisterhood... is telling Mac and Rachel some wonderful news. When Iris has good news, you really need to look out for yourself. That's when things are bad. So what are the news? Miss Devil has put Amanda up for an award! Mac is smiling from ear to ear, and Rachel is suspicious. Maybe that's the effect Iris is looking for. To once again accent on the fact that Rachel doubts and criticizes her daughter. Iris will do anything to destabilize their relationship. She is like a cancer. Back to Vicky! Jamie is at the door. Looking like a sad puppy, he has come with a surprise. No, he is not gonna leave her and her unborn... Not yet. He has bought her earrings. Sad face. How nice. NOT. Victoria, of course... manages to break one of them the moment she touches it. Bad premonition maybe? She was back in hysterics. It's not easy to trap a man into marriage. Then you have to live with someone that didn't want you in the first place.  We were introduced to a new character (to me at least she is new) - Cass's sister - Stacey. She is giving me "hidden skeletons in the closet"-vibes. Love a girl like that. Stunning actress. I like her. The highlight of the episode was the strange and creepy reveal of Evan the escort... hugging someone named Janice's grave. I remember she had an issue with Rachel... and Rachel killed her in self defense I think... It was hinted in prior episodes, but I lack the context and story. I just know that everyone at the Frame house was mad that Rachel killed the bish. But I also got the impression that this Janice was sick in the head. So Evan is now talking to her grave and telling her he is going to ruin Rachel's life basically. Oh, Evan... I liked you better as a sexy gigolo.  Overall - 10/10 - how can I rate it lower when I haven't watched in months!!!

    • Once again, Marlena and Kayla were used very effectively and I couldn’t be happier.  Marlena counseling Johnny and then Chanel was the best part of today. They’re really delving into the human emotion of this storyline and I think that’s a good thing. It feels so much mature than it was before. EJ’s fear about what could happen to Johnny if he doesn’t let go of his anger could lead to some really good storylines in the future.  I also really appreciate the way that Paula/Jeanne are mixing it up and having different characters interact with each other. It was nice to see Shawn and Johnny remember that they’re cousins and share a scene together. I liked the parallel that was drawn between the two of them, and what’s going on with their fathers. I did have mixed feelings about everything with Cat though. I enjoyed Chanel warning her about EJ, mostly because it played into the way that she was written today. But I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Chad/EJ scenes. The two of them discussing Chad’s potential feelings for Cat didn’t really keep my interest.  But above all, I feel that everyone is being used more effectively and that we’re getting a better understanding of everyone as well. And that was exactly what Days needed.
