Kelly Thiebaud, Dr. Britt Westbourne, General Hospital, GH, GH ABC, #GH, #GeneralHospital

Despite winning a Daytime Emmy in June for her role as Dr. Britt Westbourne on “General Hospital,” actress Kelly Thiebaud will be exiting the daytime drama series in November and will be reprising her role as Eva Vasquez on “Station 19” which returns for a sixth season on Thursday, October 6. Both series air on ABC.

According to Deadline, which first reported the news, Thiebaud’s character on the “Grey’s Anatomy” spinoff is the widow of fallen firefighter Rigo Vasquez (Rigo Sanchez) who appeared during the show’s third season. Eva would go on to have an affair with her husband’s colleague, Jack Gibson (Grey Damon), which created lots of drama. The publication hints the character’s return during season six of the show will include plenty of “misery” as a tease from ABC notes, “Misery loves company and Eva finds solace with someone from her past.”

Joining the cast of “General Hospital” in 2012, Thiebaud exited the series in 2014 as a contract player while making brief returns in 2015, and 2017-2018. She again returned in 2020 after a brief stint on “Days of our Lives,” returning on contract in 2021.

Thiebaud made her television debut in the NBC series “Chuck” and has since gone on to appear in episodes of “Castle,” “The Secret Life of the American Teenager,” “Criminal Minds” and a couple of TV movies. Her first credited role is in the film “Journey of Redemption” in 2002.

On the one hand, I'm disappointed about this. But on the other hand, this means that Britt won't have to be forced to deal with Cody's crap 😀

Unless they recast Britt. I kinda hope they do because I  love Britt.

I'm going to miss her but I have to be happy for her as "Station 19" would seem to be a good primetime gig. I've watched it a few times. I watch GH on Hulu & "Station 19" comes on right after. I wonder if they will recast. I can't stand what they're putting her through with her tolerating even for one moment the cowboy Cody Bell. I mean he is practically stalking her. But, she is well-placed with lots of connections, the hospital & her mother being two biggies.

Disappointed. But it is what it is. But, I do know Kelly Thiebaud said on Instagram she was able to do both series, so it sounds like TPTB said "YEET" to Britt!

They COULD. Plenty of actresses to fill the role, but is she really needed? The canvas is packed.

Terrible news for GH.  Her character is so funny, tragic and compelling with so much story left to tell.  Plus, the actress is the most gorgeous the show's had since the days of Vanessa Marcil and Rena Sofer.  I doubt they'll recast; there's very few that could do what this actress does in this role.  I hope she goes on recurring, at least, but if she's permanently leaving with no chance of return, then they should play out the Huntington's disease terminal story-- that's going to be so heartbreaking to watch like '90s GH! 🥰

Station 19 is ABC's #2 scripted series in the ratings after Grey's Anatomy, so she could end up being there multiple seasons if they keep her character on there.  I wonder if all the shows film on the same studio lot?  Josh Kelly (Cody Bell) was also on Station 19 previously.
