Eyebrow lift actor Drake Hogestyn stole episode 1 premiere.

A lot of reused sets from Beyond Salem 1.  I guess the budget went down?

Hated Ciara confrontation with Hope about not being there for her. I wish Hope would've brought up her marrying the serial killer and having his baby as to why she stayed away for so long.

The Johnston's reunion was nice but rather boring.

Steve Burton opening scenes holding a gun on someone. What a surprise!

Steve Burton acting was so hammy! He isn't aging well.

The best part was John dancing at the pride party with shirtless half naked gay men.❤

Seeing Paul taking off his pride jacket and getting down with his dad was golden.

John asking Paul if there was someone special in his life was great too.

Paul meeting Andrew and the look Andrew gave Paul was telling. Andrew was right away smitten with Paul and probably knows his gay.

Oh forgot. The Bo heaven scenes were cringe worthy bad!  I wouldn't have put them in the episode.

Nice opening of Bo and Hope.

I wonder if due to the budget they had to cut the scene right before this one where the entire party went to Target to buy their pride gear?

Or are rainbow tank tops like tuxedos, every guy in a soap town owns one regardless of wealth or status?

I thought the opening scene with Steve Burton on a rubber boat on a soundstage and Heaven with the lighting and effects were cringey although I agree with @AbcNbc247that Steve Burton still looks good.   It would be nice if he could play something other than a version of Jason though.  I know SBu used to be able to act.

John Black living it up at a Pride Party is something I never would see in my lifetime, but Drake was great lol.  John and Paul are adorable.  Paul is far and away the best John kid.

The new Stephanie does favor Shelley Hennig a lot.  I like her so far.  I never had much of a thought about Joey, so the new one seems fine as well.

I actually do thing Ciara has a ton of right to call out Hope, but I agree it came out of nowhere.  Ciara never seemed upset on the main show about it.  The fact that Hope would rather ignore her children and life to avoid getting back together with Rafe is hilarious to me even if it's not the real reason.

Poor Bo in Heaven.  Has he just had to watch everyone he loves make poor decisions all these years lol?

The actress that plays Megan Hathaway still looks really good.

I like it so far.  I am curious to see how all the pieces and characters come together, but it was a good start.  It felt a little more disjointed than the first Beyond Salem, but we'll see.

    • That's so funny, that's how I listen to Montecito - while walking my dog. I'll have to check out Forever & a Day.
    • I need to listen! Forever & a Day was a fun soapy podcast to have available when I walked the dog.
    • A few years ago, Devon and Nick started a charity organization together, I think it's for housing in the community.
    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
    • Don't know if this exactly fits here, but it is connected: Does this abandoned building look familiar? It is one of those explorer videos - and the outside may look VERY familiar if one watched GH in the '70s and '80s!

    • So, I have been in the hospital all week. I am close to being up to date on my soaps. Now I have to go to the Infusion Ctr daily to get IV antibiotics, for 6 weeks. I am frankly exhausted. A hospital is no place to be when you're sick. Hooked up to machines that go beep beep beep all day & night long. Someone wakes you up every hour on the hour for something, either to stick you with needles or to take your gosh-awful blood pressure for the umpteenth time. So, you don't get any sleep. Now I have a central line, upper right chest. After they "installed" it, I said, I am now Borg. They just stared at me. Apparently scifi is not general knowledge. What happened? I have an infection inside my big toe right foot & it burned the skin on my foot. The burned skin is already better. It was like a bad sunburn. The infection inside the toe is the issue. Oral antibiotics won't even get its attention. So, IV antibiotics plus time.

As Salem bids farewell to John Black on Monday, the "Days" family and fans say a final goodbye to Drake Hogestyn.   From his time as a young man playing baseball in the minor leagues for the New York Yankees to his almost four-decade run as John Black, Drake always did his best. And, while becoming a soap opera icon, he spent almost 40 years at "Days" telling the best stories and taking the younger cast under his wing to make sure they would do their best as well. Thank you, Drake, for the legacy you have left for everyone at "Days." The impact you made on the cast, crew and fans will never be forgotten...and that's a fact.
    • I found an interview with Joseph Breen (Will Jeffries) where he mentions that Reva was put in a coma so Zimmer could go to Hollywood to do a pilot (OMG, if ONLY it had been picked up, LOL) and that Sonni and Josh and Will became a popular with the audience while she was out of commission.  If you want to read the whole thing: https://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewarticle.asp?id=47394 Breen was known for being very candid in interviews, I wish I could find more of them. I seem to recall he made a couple of snarky comments about Zimmer, implying she was not above acting like a diva. Sounded to me like he had a lot of respect for Forbes (who went on to have a very strong and varied career after GL).
    • I was so confused why Devon was prying into Nicks love life and then it clicked and I remembered they’re brother-in-laws. Shows how little I pay attention to this show anymore. I was like uh? Do these two even know each other this well?
