I'm hearing rumors they're breaking up Sonny and Will and pairing Sonny with either Craig, Gabi or Leo. This show just keeps getting worse.

A split up yet Ciara and Ben are happily together doing nothing. No story...nada!

Why won't they just bring back Paul if they are splitting Will/Sonny up?

Idk, what are they really going to do with Ciara/Ben?  VK seems to tape a bunch of shows in a few days so Ciara can't really have a new romance and Ben will never be a viable love interest for anyone because he's a serial killer lol.

Well, can you blame them for going in this direction?  At this point, ZT can make more of a commitment to the show than CM can.  Keeping Sonny tethered to Will will limit him story-wise.

Once upon a time, I really would have made a bigger deal out of Ben unable to find work due to his criminal background.  Even now, with a baby on the way, we should see Ben struggle to provide for his growing family financially, and the toll that that takes on his and Ciara's marriage.  (Especially when the only gig he can land is one at a strip club, trading on his past notoriety as the "Necktie Killer.") But that ship has probably sailed.

I am always unclear if Ciara has a job.  Does she work at Titan? Ben works at the garage still, right?  There should be a lot more angst about Ben having a child and the financial responsibilities, but I guess the devil wanting to steal their child is bigger angst-even though much stupider.

But Ben turning to sex work to support his family would be a plot point I could enjoy.

I cannot believe this is all still going and they still haven't retconned Ben being a motherfucking serial killer.

Ron must really, really take the response to the OLTL rapemance and Franco personally.

It is ludicrous to suggest Sonny's only options are the much older man, the gay villain stereotype and a woman. Come on. If they broke those two up and gave him an actual separate romance, which I doubt knowing DAYS, it will be someone new or it will be a Paul recast.

Agree.

Wait, Ciara (possibly) works for a business conglomerate, while Ben's a grease monkey?  Oh, yeah.  That marriage is gonna last forever.  [/sarcasm]

Idk, I thought I heard Ciara yapping about working at Titan or getting her job back there awhile ago.  Her attire on the show suggests she does not work at a business conglomerate though.  I do think Ben still works at the garage though.  Someone has to work.

I'm not gonna lie, Ben strikes me as the type who would get all pissy and angry that his wife makes more money than he does

And if they're really gonna break up Sonny and Will (for a while anyway), now would be the perfect time for them to bring back Paul. The actor himself is hoping for it, and it would make much more sense for Sonny to reunite with the man that he almost married rather than a guy he hates.

What, you don't believe Ben and Ciara (and their baby) could live on love alone?

Ben and Ciara arguing over the disparity in their salaries, with old-fashioned Ben believing he, and not his wife, should be the proverbial breadwinner, would give them genuine conflict and better definition - so, of course, Ron Carlivati is gonna run like hell from it.

Lol, no.  John/Marlena probably could though.

I am pretty sure Ciara has some sort of trust fund as well.  From Victor.  From Bo.  From Doug/Julie.  I don't think she's poor or anything.  She probably just doesn't tell Ben she pays the bills and he does think their love is paying for their expenses lol.

Sonny and Gabi??

Years ago, I actually wrote out a story idea where Sonny did question his sexuality, which led Will to a very dark place of anger and betrayal before he connected with the old Horton tenets of being a good person and forgiving and so on (and I might have had him fall for a priest, given all the priest kink in his family history), but it's not something I would ever trust these writers with. And if it does happen, I would also wonder if they only care about pairing Sonny with a woman because a "hot" actor is now in the role.

Sad to say I think I still might prefer Sonny and Gabi to pathetic Leo, the face of Ron Carlivati's deep-seated issues regarding gay men, and Craig, a shameful, unnecessary retcon that seems to have belly flopped with the remaining viewer base.

Oh, Will (or any gay man) falling in love with a priest would be a FANTASTIC story to watch.

I don't think she is either.  But, again, the opportunity for organic conflict is there -- Ciara feels comfortable providing financially for their family, but Ben is determined to provide for them and be an all-around better dad to their kid than Clyde was to him and Jordan -- and Ron Carlivati's ignoring it completely.  We should be enthralled with the lengths that Ben would go to to support the family.  Instead, we're being forced to watch dumb [!@#$%^&*] about gender reveal parties and the devil laying claim on the baby for reasons we're still not 100% clear about.

I don't think Days has done organic conflict since like 1993, but I agree.

I assume the devil wants the kid because it will be ridiculously good looking and probably dumb and slightly evil.  Like why wouldn't the devil just take Henry when the devil is in Allie's body and the child was the product of rape and an evil man as well?

Which is why their budget today is literally someone's SSI benefits, and why their core audience has dwindled down to a group of Omaha housewives who don't trust the Internet.

And when it comes to the devil's motivations for wanting the baby, your theory's as good as anyone else's, lol.

    • Unfortunately I only had one or two pages from those months. I believe I posted them but it would only cover one or two shows.
    • I think she would have been fine, although Beth was a thankless part. She probably was seen as aging out of the genre after AW.  I forgot she was on Sunset Beach.
    • Nicole's lucky Im no a soap villian bc if I was Wig, Id replace the liquid in her Febreze bottle with an odorless poison so that everytime she sprayed that thing, she'd be slowly killing herself

    • OK, I like the Cat interactions with Xander and EJ. And, I get that there are new writers. But, Clyde was shot 12/11/2024.  So, why have we not heard Xander or EJ's response to the situation for five months!  Clyde shot EJ (or he ordered him shot), shouldn't he react more to the news of his coma.  And, I've never heard EJ or Kristin mention that the woman who lived with them last summer was a fraud. Rather than giving lip service to the idea of family and community, at least it feels like everyone no longer lives in a bubble.
    • I don't know if I could have seen that from her, honestly. But I feel like, outside of GH and her original DAYS stint, American daytime really didn't pay much attention to her, even though they should have.
    • Co-sign, 100% on this one. Xander was entirely in the wrong.
    • I'm seeing some interesting takes on this thread regarding Dani's behavior/personality, including right now. Here's my take on her: I think that Dani relishes in lighting people up. I think that's for multiple reasons.  I feel like Dani has probably largely been like this throughout her life. And that she gets joy in dragging people whenever she feels like it's necessary. I believe she feels like this is her being herself. I think one big reason why she's particularly giddy right now is because she's able to go back to acting this way, minus the hurt she's been dealing with due to Bill's affair. She got in Bill and Hayley's faces after their affair/wedding, but she was miserable doing it due to dealing with the hurt of that situation. Nicole's situation with Ted/Eva/Leslie allows her to act this way minus her suffering like she did at the hands of Bill. I believe she does empathize/care for her sister but is also interestingly enough rejuvenated by this situation. This situation is energizing her and making her act more like old self again, minus being hurt by her own's husband's infidelity. I think Nicole's situation is also a distraction for her from dealing with her own failed marriage to Bill.
    • Great episode, better than what the spoilers said. The gambling story was tolerable but Jon Lindstrom sucks in the role. Ambyr Michelle continues to shine. The diner and country club scenes were very well executed.  The Jan and Leslie scenes were very good! My favorite is Eva, now followed by Nicole.
    • Today's show was good. The only part I didn't care for were the Derek/Ashley scenes. I think they are bland together and Derek is very bland by himself. He is the least interesting character on the show IMO. I don't think they have much chemistry together. I appreciated Jan's reaction to Leslie. I like how regular/realistic her and Mona are as characters. Jan came across as very believable of being appalled and even hurt by Leslie's treatment of them and towards Eva in the diner.  Leslie continues to try and manipulate people with IMO her fake caring routine, only to show her true colors after she's confronted/called out for her treatment of others. I continue to dislike the way she mistreats Eva. Speaking of Eva she was great again today. I love her and I like how Martin comforted her in the diner. I liked that Vernon showed concern for her as well. They (especially Martin) will come around quicker to her before others (like the Dupree women) will. I also am glad to see her and Ted continue to bond and him behaving like a father towards her/helping her. He's the only one in her life who is fully trying to stand by her. I look forward to seeing their relationship grow.
    • Xander was screaming at Felicity.  He did do something wrong.  Felicity was clearly upset by it and Cat/Chad told him to stop.  That's fair.  No one deserves to be yelled at their job-and even I think this plot point is too preachy.  It's not acceptable behavior for anyone to do that.
