RIP Helmut Huber

It’s just speculation, but they don’t follow each other on Instagram and never mention each other, despite both having very active and family driven Instagrams. There’s also another woman that Liza posts and says is like a mother to her, but nothing of Susan. Of course everything could be fine behind the scenes, but publicly they seem distant. Maybe Liza just doesn’t want the attention posting her famous mom, it just seems odd since both post so much, but never mention each other.

Poor Susan -- it was clear that Helmut was her absolute rock for 50 years. This must be a devastating loss. I hope she has a good support system around her. And who knows, maybe it will bring her and Liza closer together.

Did the Hubers still live in their house in the Hamptons?

I don’t think that sale of the house in Quogue went through because it was back on the market a couple of years later. I’m not sure. I first saw the house featured in Episodes magazine years and years ago. Here’s a more recent video:

Thank you. I assumed that, because she showed the Hamptons house off in a couple of interviews, it was the Hubers' primary residence.

That's sweet that they lived in the town where she grew up! I believe they met in Garden City, too, when he was a chef (at the Garden City Hotel, a local landmark, if memory serves me) and she a waitress, before she landed AMC.

    • I can barely remember who was the person they tested her with for the AMC revival but I *do* remember kinda liking them together (anyone remember better?  lol)  But yes, I feel the same.  It might not help that when I became a regular viewer Tad was presumed dead and she was with Craig...  I do remember that my sister's best friend had been an AMC viewer with her mom and dad and that they were very excited that Tad was returning...
    • Well, that is weird. I do not see him but I only have him on Ignore on 2 accounts.
    • In the preview for the show back in February on Entertainment Tonight, Jeresa the costume designer was specific about each character's economic background, personality, and the character's personal fashion preferences.  Very much about the characters and not the actors. She said Eva is a thrifter, so her normal daily wardrobe would be something from a thrift store, and if BTG buys it new, they intentionally make it look used. So what you said fits about the type of thing a lower income person would buy for a fancy event.
    • As hard as it is for me to imagine anyone but Don Stewart as Mike Bauer...I dunno...maybe someone like "Adam-12"'s Kent McCord?  Or Robert Hogan?
    • Yep I don't hate Javi and then he's macking on Leo and I'm done with him. Leo is a failure who needs to go away   I am bracing myself for Alex reading the manuscript and imagining him and Stephanie as the main characters, because this couple has literally nothing else to do until Joy comes back showing
    • Oh yes. The towel scene though
    • Interesting that Donald May has been mentioned twice. He's on my dreamcast list for Alan. He was somewhat older than Stewart and Bernau, but he could have played either role. An actor I thought about for Mike was Dan Hamilton. He played a role on GL during the 60s, but enough time had passed that it shouldn't have been a problem. He usually played smarmy characters but it would have been cool if they had gone against typecasting.
    • I like Jed Allan, it has to be someone who can play authority but "good" authority to oppose Alan's bad. As mentioned upthread, can you imagine how it would have been with Alan and Mike against each other, with Roger in the mix. But I would have had Roger, ever the opportunist to try to take advantage of their fighting to make his own headway.  Maybe that could have been the storyline, Mike involved with Alex, but the constant fighting with Alan causes a rift (she like Mike fighting Alan when it is to her advantage, but he can be a bit self righteous and I can see him demanding her to disavow Alan publicly..) so that is how Roger lands in her bed, much to the consternation of BOTH Alan and Mike. I would like to have a woman of a certain age being fought over by two men (really three if you count Alan.
    • Please let May have less garbage time. The Y&R threads have shrunken, whereas I can barely keep up with the Beyond the Gates threads.
