I just wish there was more pageantry around it. Feels kinda muted. It’s interesting that established stars like Michael Bolton, Macy Gray, and Jewel are taking part, which lends it some gravitas. But if they were going to make it a true phenomenon like Eurovision, they needed a greater sense of urgency.  Maybe it’ll build over time, but it feels like just another U.S. talent-competition show, when perhaps it needed to feel a bit more like a sporting event. I feel like World of Wonder might have done a better job…

I think that if you consider the American contest to be Eurovision-adjacent rather than a carbon copy of Eurovision, then it makes the experience much better. I have to say that I rather enjoyed the banter between Snoop and Kelly, and I believe it will improve over the next few weeks.

To me, it just feels like more of the same.

Totally. There’s nothing that really distinguishes it from the endless parade of talent shows. Just feels kind of half-assed, as if they didn’t really believe the show could be super successful. And it really could have been.
