Honestly, if I had my way I would make Johnny a (non-devil) villian and keep Tripp the good guy.  I think there is something smarmy about Carson Boatman that works better than Lucas Adams as a villian.  Obviously they both could be villains but they are the only two men in this age range right now so that probably wouldn't work lol

Absolutely.

Carson's been doing a great job as JoDevil pretending to be Johnny. He plays coldhearted really well. I could see him becoming a real villain when Allie/Chanel sleeping together finally comes out.

Ehhh... I can't see Tripp as a kept man though

Do you think Sami's head would explode if 3/4ths of her kids were LGBTQ?   For all we know Sydney is too lol

I have known a Tripp in life lol.  It was a white preppy guy.  I think it might be an east coast name?  It's a stupid name, but I have heard it.  But I have never met a Roman or Marlena in real life, so it's not the most out there name I guess.  Tripp Johnson does sound vaguely like a porn name though.

Unfortunately, if you keep Johnny as a villain, even after he has been exorcised, you run the risk of people wondering, "Is the devil still in him?".  I know that SOUNDS good, but trust me: the sooner we get away from that story again, the better.

Yeah that's true and that's disappointing because I like Johnny as a villian.   I said somewhere in this thread that it limits the fun, sexy, scheming stories we could have had with Johnny.  Saddling him with the devil is not like saddling Marlena with the devil.  Johnny's a pretty blank slate.  Marlena was always good.

No.

I'm telling you, Syd is having an inappropriate relationship with the headmaster at her boarding school OR she's involved in a call-girl ring that's being spearheaded by the headmaster and/or the bitchiest girl at school.  (Or even both!)  So, yeah, she could be, too, lol.

But you know it's all anyone can do not to call him "Tripper," or "The Tripster," like the old "Richmeister" character from SNL.

And Tripp is a doctor, right?  So, "Tripper John(son), M.D.," here we come!

My aunt has 4 kids and 3/4ths of them are LGBTQ. Two gay sons and one lesbian daughter. Her oldest son never really came out. He just started dating guys. The second son met a guy in the navy but he wasn't out. His bf threatened to leave him if he didn't come out to his family. So when the daughter came out it was pretty much who the [!@#$%^&*] cares.

Sami had a raised eyebrow moment when it was hinted that Allie had feelings for Chanel. Not only would Marlena be happy but so would Will.

    • Millette Alexander got the short end of the stick once they killed off Joe. The Justin thing was a non-starter. Then she was briefly married to Alan's corrupt lawyer and HE was killed off. She was paired briefly with Adam and that ended because she believed Holly over Roger about the rape. Definitely, Marland had zero interest in her except as the therapist for the many, many of his female characters who needed therapy. It's not odd she left the show. One of the rare 1978 episodes on YT shows Alan going to Cedars for a physical check-up. He ends up with Sarah as his doctor. In between making mysoginistic comments about women doctors, he also openly flirts with her. It's very obvious they were chem testing Sarah and Alan. It's a really good scene. Bernau is both obnoxious and charming and Millette is amazing, trying to be pleasant and profesional without rolling her eyes at him, but at the same time maybe a LITTLE bit attracted to him. An interesting what-might-have-been. So it appears the Dobsons were actively looking for someone to pair her with, they just never found the right one for a long-term story.

You've inspired me to add my 2 cents about this product placement debacle.  I absolutely HATE the way they are doing product placement in BTG. I really hope this doesn't catch on or evolve into more and more of these moments. It's incredibly off-putting to place them in a highly dramatic moment where we are still on the emotional journey with the character. What is next - Dani spraying the house while having a nervous breakdown? It makes me not want to buy the product they're selling. LOL. That's just me.
    • I always get the vibe that Martin/Smitty have an emotional abusive relationship set up... but I doubt the show will really go there with that element given that Martin is a Dupree (and we can't have the Duprees be portrayed in a negative light), and because it's a gay male relationship.   Even though abuse in the physical or emotional sense is a huge thing in a lot of gay and lesbian relationships. The Ashley/Naomi scene reads off to me for one reason....  Ashley was talking about the new scandal without any sort of mention and/or subtext.. considering she knew both Silk Press Sheila and Eva.  I'm not sure if the writers have forgotten, if Jen Jacobs isn't able to play subtext, or what.   It's just apparent the writers do not know how to write a young white millennial couple.. and perhaps they need to get a younger white script writer to be on staff... or let the actors play around with the lines to make them more natural/realistic.
    • This is as good a time as any to point out that the 90 minute show was, what I like to call  "cockamamie idea" of Fred Silverman, head of NBC Daytime Programming. He did so well at ABC & CBS but not so NBC. We learned this from a WOST interview with Pete Lemay, 2006, can be found on YouTube, audio only. Now, to be clear, Rauch was completely behind it. Only Lemay fought against it & eventually quit over it.
    • She was so wonderful. Glad your handle has been a tribute to her.
    • Hopefully Alan has learned to not interrupt or interject with pointless information while someone is in the middle of telling a story. I almost think it would be better if Alan was a producer behind the scenes.. and he just had the actors on screen talking and asking one another questions.  Those interviews tend to work better.
    • It was only recently announced that Denise Alexander passed away on March 5, 2025. She was my all time favorite actress and role model. She will be dearly missed.  Denise Alexander, ‘General Hospital' and ‘Days of Our Lives' Actress, Dies at 85
