I don't think it mattered much even then.

Between the fan poll deciding the father of Hope's baby, the Greta mystery, flirting with Chloe as Stefano's daughter, retconning the fan poll to make Bo the father after already making it Stefano, all the baby switch stuff, and about half a dozen other examples, I was so burnt out on baby/paternity stories.

I don't think the writers even knew who Greta's father was. They were making it up as they went along.

I would think it was supposed to be John at one point?  That's what I assumed, but with John/Stefano being potential fathers of Greta and Hope's baby at the same time I don't even know what was happening back then.  That whole Langan era was just odd.  It was still trying to be JER's Days, but also so focused on the teens.  I hated it at the time, but I think I was just spoiled from the 90's

Nope.  Tom Horton could be Greta's bio dad, and I doubt it would land much of a punch on the folks in Salem.

Unfortunately, Greta was just a bit of a dud of a character.  I liked her, but she wasn't really anything memorable no matter how much the show pushed her for awhile.

Oh, JER's first HW'ing stint was "The Forsyte Saga" compared to the 20 or 22 that have come afterward.

I honestly believe much of that era was about giving soft- and hard-core porn actors some legit SAG credits.

Maybe it's just me, but I really thought someone at AMC would have brought back Kevin Sheffield ('memba him?) at some point.  Would Ben Jorgensen have been tapped to reprise the role?  Prolly not.  But I really, really thought he'd pop up again (and I wasn't even a fan!).

There was some Langan stuff I liked but not much.

His teens were caricatures.

Virtual Eden? Disaster.

I did like when they mixed Greta up with Jack and Jennifer. The story was dumb but Julianne had great chemistry with Matt and Missy.

Well, once you get past the whole Saved by the Belle stuff the Langan era wasn't awful.  I have never liked Belle much at all so it was hard for me to see her front and center and Lord knows I wanted to like Jarlena's kid.   There was an odd obsession with John/Hope and tearing apart Bo/Hope and John/Marlena in a variety of oddball ways (ie Brady being the worst), but some stuff was really good like Sami's Execution story.

Obviously, as @KLN said, there were a lot of misses, but there were some good stories among the mess.

I'd love to know who or what convinced Corday and/or Langan to let the latter head-write AND produce the show.

Ken just wanted to get the golf course...he was halfway out the door and agreed just to get Tom off his back.

Julianne Morris was engaging, but the writing just didn't seem to be there.

Julianne Morris was/is gorgeous and very likable plus I thought she was a decent actress.  Unfortunately she didn't pop off the screen with charisma and chemistry the way some actors do.   Greta was either pushed way too much (the John, Hope, Bo, Gina, scar stuff ad nauseum), given horrible stories (GARDEN OF EDEN, Jack is fake gay), or given nothing (Eric/Greta romance, Austin/Greta romance).  I definitely think she had the ability to be a long term heroine-the show just never found a niche for her.  I think she could have worked well as a foe for Sami in the absence of Carrie, but the show really didn't have them interact much.   Greta's coronation was probably the best 'event' Days did in that era though.

It is surprising Greta never came back especially with all the Beyond Salem mentions.  Does Julianne Morris still act?

As far as I know, Julianne Morris is retired from acting. Her husband (Kristoffer Polaha) is a Hallmark Channel staple.

I remember Polaha in the JFK movie lol.  He was definitely an actor networks were trying to make happen for awhile.  He was in all those Fox and CW shows that bombed (North Shore, Life Unexpected, The Ringer).  I always liked him (I am the only person who loved The Ringer lol).  Glad to see he's still working and they are still married.  Julianne Morris is someone who I think would kill it on Hallmark as well.  She has that perfect bland likability for that genre.

My understanding is that Julianne left the business to be a full-time wife/mom. I think her kids are older so she may return to acting sooner rather than later.

I always thought Jeff, Sarah and Steve Webber would be back at some point on GH, but not so far.

I still don’t get that they never brought back Jeff. Like how? They recasted so many legendary  Characters but they couldn’t find a way to re-introduce Jeff back to the canvas? I mean his daughter Liz is a core character for the last 2 or 3 decades by now.

Sarah was a stupid character overall but they could at least acknowledge her. I mean they even found time to give Liz a new half-sister with Hayden

Forget about Jeff.  It's been how long?  And we STILL don't know who the hell is Liz's mom.
