Let's throw in all the gaggle of gays.

Brant Daughtery who played Brian.

Jesse Kristofferson that played Neil. Will's first gay kiss.

Tyler Seller who played Brent, Sonny's old climbing buddy that tried to lure Sonny away from Will.

The gay male stripper dude from Paul's stag night that was confused why Paul would ever want to marry someone as boring as pre-Zach, Sonny.

Rinna played Rinna in the beginning to me, but I saw Billie as the show continued on. I wish Chelsea had a mention during the interaction with Ciara.

Kristen should have been in the finale revealing Sarah whereabouts to lead to a story for “regular” days ,or a season 2, or maybe even in Nashville or somewhere with a new warehouse with new initials.

overall Beyond was better than current days ( aside from wtf going on with Brent Douglas)

I don't think they wanted to tie in this too closely with what's currently happening on DAYS since they don't know how much of the audience will bother watching Beyond Salem. Plus, I think the way to go forward with BS is not necessarily to follow this group of characters into another season - I quite like the idea of exploring various off screen characters' lives in future installments.

After watching all 5 episodes and than re-watching them, i truly think this should become a spinoff. Do it like they do with other peacock or Netflix shows. Each season, consist of 13 episodes and focus on certain characters. Than can bring back people like Billie, Carrie, Will, etc and other former cast members. They seem to get away with more stuff than on the regular show. Daytime is general has become stale and they don't seem to be taking risks like they did in the 90's or up to the early 00's.

Each season, focus on a certain main storyline and have a whole bunch of current and former cast members be in different seasons.

Episode One: 7.5/10

  • The classic hour-glass opening with updated graphics? Amazing. If only we could get that opening as the actual Days of Our Lives opener, because it rocked!
  • The stock footage, in comparison to the on-set footage, feels out-of-place, but I can appreciate the effort put into it.
  • The post-production value of Beyond Salem supersedes the post-production of Days of Our Lives. Can NBC put some $$ into post-producing the main serial?
  • The re-purposed DiMera set with the Beyond Salem post-production proves how much better the set could actually look. Though, Paulina has THIS in Miami, yet a recycled apartment in Salem...? That does not add up.
  • Charlie's old apartment looks AMAZING for Sonny & Will... and Zach Tinker is great as Sonny! This recast needs to be permanent.
  • Austin & Carrie's apartment is laughable... a ship-like door from the living room to what I assume is that kitchen? Is it a refurbished from the apartment Abigail & Chad lived in during their own mini-series?
  • What is this sex theme? Cheap AF! I mean... the music fits with it being more of a limited-run mystery.
  • "Our budget isn't what it used to be." Shade made, whether intentional or not.
  • The name drops being dropped by Paulina are a bit... unrealistic, if you ask me.
  • Making Tinker's Sonny more casually laid back makes sense, and is a nice switch for the suit-wearing Sonny that Freddie Smith portrayed in his final years in the role.
  • Chad has a "big tip" for Will, huh? Looks like Ron Carlivati is really using the streaming platform to his advantage.
  • LEO STARK HAS ARRIVED!
  • Thankfully, the outdoor scenes look better than the 2015/2016 green-looking bullsh!t we were subjected to during Days of Our Lives' 50th anniversary.

Episode 2: 7/10

  • I'm sorry, but it took everyone at that restaurant far too long to realize what was happening.
  • "If you have a price range, then you can't afford it." haha.
  • Can Peter Porte bring Kyle Graham and a recast Billie Reed (with Gina Tognoni) to Salem...? Please...?
  • Tinker understood the assignment and SHOWED UP as Sonny, and ATE the material!
  • "Will only wants me for my peacock." Lawd.
  • If these two guys kill Paulina I wouldn't be upset. But why did NO ONE do something, like running away? They all stood there.
  • Flaversham? WTF kind of name is that? LOL! Only daytime could have these names.
  • Ben & Ciara working for the ISA? Bleh. Let me pass [out].
  • Chaddy-Daddy being dominate with Leo is such a turn on.

Episode 3: 8/10

  • Loving the steamier sets... but still no nudity? Kind of disappointing.
  • Seeing Abe & Shane reuniting is kind of awesome.
  • Three men? In a shower? Also.. missing the chance to see some backsides through a shower door or two!
  • SISTER MARY! Incredible. And holding a ruler? Iconic.
  • Referencing The Real Housewives? Hmm.. not sure how I feel about it. And product-placing Lisa Rinna's beauty line? Nah.
  • Leo is all of us stanning CHASS!
  • KRISTEN FRIGGIN' DIMERA!!!! ICONIC!!! Eileen Davidson looks fire!!!!

Episode 4: 9/10

  • As much as Leo is enjoyable... he's also a major creep and predator.
  • Miles & Sophie! Stupid last name... but love seeing Scott Bailey & Adrienne Frantz, respectively. Frantz's voice is nice in that posh tone.
  • A sex party, huh? Interesant!
  • Did Davidson & Porte ever interact when they were both on The Young and the Restless?
  • Frantz is LIVING her fantasy in this role, isn't she?
  • This club is sad... especially if it's the most happening.
  • Billy Flynn, Chandler Massey and Tinker are LIVING for this. Flynn studied. Yes he did.

Episode 5: 9/100

  • Two Shanes at once? Hmm.. what is this?
  • Leo is taking it a bit too far if you ask me... though, seeing Flynn in his underwear is everything.
  • Drew Donovan? Insane. Decent use of history.
  • How TF are all of these people, relative or otherwise, OK with Ciara being married to the necktie killer? Like, c'mon now, and they've never popped up until now.
  • How TF are people traveling faster on Beyond Salem than they do on Days of Our Lives?
  • Oh. This plot twist is great.... campy but great! If this is what we could potentially get on Days of Our Lives, let's move it from NBC to Peacock!

I've said it before, but I do hope that some of the money spent on Beyond Salem will benefit DAYS in some way - at least the refreshed sets should come to some use on the main show. But if it does we won't be seeing that until January 2022, because DAYS.

    • The Dallas finale was the highest-rated episode since October 9, 1987 (Gone with the Wind). Prior to the finale, the last Dallas episode to finish ahead of a new episode of Murder, She Wrote was October 23, 1987 (Tough Love). Prior to the finale, the last Dallas episode to finish ahead of a new episode of The Cosby Show was February 22, 1985 (Shattered Dreams).
    • 40 years ago this month, the best and most pivotal television season of the 1980s came to an end. Here’s how the rookie breakout and the four soaps wrapped up the season. The Cosby Show – Cliff’s Birthday (season 1 finale, May 9): Clair and the children surprise Cliff by planning a birthday celebration around a Lena Horne concert. Dallas – Deliverance (May 10): Bobby seeks evidence to free Jenna. The Ewings go confidently to court. Mitch asks Lucy to move in. J.R. wants Sue Ellen hospitalized. Dynasty - The Heiress (May 8): Krystle learns Daniel is dead. King Galen courts Alexis. Amanda sees Michael with Elena. Sammy Jo learns Krystle will handle her money and is furious about the decision. Knots Landing – One Day in a Row (May 9): Ben aids in Karen's search for Val's babies. Mack replies to the governor's offer. Ruth uses Abby to break up Laura and Greg. Falcon Crest – Cold Comfort (May 10): Fugitive Lance desperately searches for Lorraine, who lies comatose in a San Francisco hospital. Robin returns with startling news.   Dallas – Swan Song (season 8 finale, May 17): Jenna's release from jail depresses Pam. Sue Ellen thinks she saw Dusty. Donna tells Ray about her pregnancy. Cliff consults an attorney about an annulment. Lucy and Mitch remarry. Sudden tragedy strikes Bobby. Dynasty – Royal Wedding (season 5 finale, May 15): Sammy Jo makes her roommate look like Krystle. Elena reassures Amanda about her upcoming marriage. Terrorists come for the royal wedding of Prince Michael and Amanda. Falcon Crest – Confessions (May 17): Melissa confesses to framing Lance. Pamela gives Maggie proof that Richard bribed Judge Holder. Connie reveals her love for Chase. Knots Landing – Vulnerable (May 16): Ruth wants Abby to break up Greg and Laura. Karen makes a breakthrough in her hunt for Val's babies. Joshua hampers Val's recovery. Knots Landing – The Long and Winding Road (season 6 finale, May 23): Abby fears being linked to the disappearance of Val's babies. Laura leaves Greg. The Fishers are determined to keep Val's babies. Falcon Crest – The Avenging Angel (season 4 finale, May 24): Lorraine dies. Angela throws a victory party. Cassandra's mother arrives. An explosion rips through Richard's house. 1984/85 was the season the primetime soaps pulled out all the stops to out-do each other and everything culminated in the spring. May 1985 was the zenith of primetime soaps as a genre.

    • Charles Grant first appeared as Evan in September 1988. I was surprised to come across this item from December 1985, almost 3 years earlier: "Lots of action behind the scenes at Another World . . . I have bad news for fans of Christopher Holder (Peter Love). He will be leaving the show in the new year. I have heard that the producers are recasting the part and are also seeing actors for new roles. One of the main characters this spring will be Marlee [sic] and Victoria's father. The producers have been talking to Charles Flohe (John "Preacher" Emerson, Edge Of Night) about another new character to be featured. I will fill you in on the results as soon as I know." It seems obviously too early for anyone to have been planning to introduce Evan Frame. Based on the context he's not being considered as a recast of Peter. Maybe they were considering him for the character that turned out to be Neal, who started around the same time as Marcus Smythe as Peter?
    • Randall Edwards (and Brian Tarantina), with the opening night cast of 1985's Biloxi Blues, plus director Gene Saks and playwright Neil Simon.

    • That was my point really. These anniversary party scenes are the first ones, and now they won't be able to use them (meaning these actual scenes, as aired, with OG Ted). They can recreate them but I doubt they will spring for all the extras to come back and film and recreate everything, so it will be more like tight closed in shots of Ted with one or two other actors, or snippets of Leslie's original speech where Ted wasn't visible. It would be hard to recapture the original energy of the scenes are as they were filmed in their full context. I just think that's too bad, but maybe they will prove me wrong. I never really saw what was so off in his portrayal to warrant a recast, anyway, so that colors my perception as well.
    • Yeah, and quite honestly, are there really that many scenes that are flashback-worthy at this point in the run?
    • I know at one point they were on Hulu & i-Tunes. I just checked it on JustWatch.com & it indicates 1 season on Prime Video & on AppleTV. Have fun! Just looking back at this thread, the recent end of & I have to admit I am surprised that several of you give it such high marks. Now, literally all I know about the modern reboot I learned from Slezak in Linda Dano's podcast & I must tell you I got a very different impression from what she said. If you are interested, those podcast episodes are still up even though Dano is not making any new ones. My impression from what she said was that they had no idea what they were doing & it was no wonder that the project was an abject failure She & many others were owed a ton of money. At the end the mid-level staff came out & basically said, they didn't know what to do, that the people were not here & they guessed it was over. So, as you can imagine I was appalled.
    • That era is so weird...they made a big deal out of all three of those characters and then they just..disappeared! Not that I am complaining. We talk about the bad out of character writing for Alex under JFP..but this was one example that may have led them to write her being so obsessive with Nick.  WHY would Alex accept Flock of Seagulls guy as her brother? They had her in one scene (setting up the Alan return) complain that Alan abandoned her...she blackmailed him into leaving town and she had been angry at him for helping Brandon with Lujack and also using Spaulding for that dumb dreaming death thing. Endless scenes of her with Simon, I can't believe Bev wasn't bored to death! I would also add Pam writing the scene where she lets Ms. Sally die in front of her to protect Alan and  the writing for Alex could be screwy even before JFP.
