The Doctors Discussion Thread

Wow. I had never heard that. Very interesting. Honestly think after 75 the writers, though having some good moments here and there, were wildly inconsistent with storytelling and that destroyed the once-popular show. Though watching many of these episodes today, they hold my interest more than any current soap, except for GH, which is on fire, in my opinion, though I realize it's not everyone's cup of tea.

Loved the interview and I agree with the people who are saying this has been some of JM’s best work since Cassie’s death. I have been enjoying it and kind of shocked to see him crying real tears when he broke down to Victor and Nikki about his struggles. I think JM is a great actor, they just don’t tend to give him the most challenging material. Hes usually just supporting his female counterparts in their stories (Sharon, Phyllis usually). So I’m sure he has enjoyed having a story of his own to play.

I read interviews where Labine and Mayer discussed very different opinions about Delia--Labine thought she was a villainess, Mayer had a much more empathetic view. It seems once Edwards came in Delia became more cartoony (ugh, that Prince Albert story).
I find the excuses for killing off Mary unconvincing. (Personally, I think Labine mostly lost interest in the character after Mulgrew left). There was no reason why they couldn't have separated Mary and Jack. Levin and Felder had fantastic chemistry. IMO, they should have gone for it with the two of them. That would have injected some very needed character-driven drama. But, instead, we got the mob. 🙁

I think the writers intentionally had Beautiful & her "stray" granddaughter go "easy" on Francesca & Anastasia today, so the wicked Belleclaire ladies could smirk proudly at the episode's close, like Harriett & Nellie Oleson from "Little House on the Prairie", whose smugness ALWAYS preceded their downfall.
Today's ending seemed to preview Francesca has experienced her little "victory" and therefore won't have a snowball's chance in hell of being the Platinum Deb at the cotillion.
(Today's breakdown was terrible, of course.)
