It's only because she's Victor and Ashley's daughter, young and white. That's it. She's been a waste of time since she was first SORASed. The character needs to be rested for many years. Bloodline is no longer an excuse.

Would would you do to rehab the character of Abby then?

Give her a character, for a start. I have no sense of who Abby is as a person. I mean, I get that she isn't a 'villain', but broad strokes, what kind of person is she? This is not a question I would ever ask about the character of Ashley. ED always imbued her with sensitivity and softness, but also with a certain WASPy self-centredness, too. I felt like I was watching a woman with complexity, and I could read emotions on ED's (and BE's) face (s). With Ordway, it's blank and one-note.

I suspect her prettiness and the fact that she seems well-liked among the cast is what keeps her on the show.

P.S.: I always thought John Driscoll played a great Chance. He played a gentle-hearted, kind character, he sort of reminded me of Ryan on Another World. But at the time, that kind of male character was not really welcomed on soaps.

I can worry about that in 2028 at minimum. She should not be on the show anymore.

I don't understand the investment in Abby. Melissa Ordway can't act and can't carry a story. It's insane the focus they give to her.

All of this. It’s because she’s a Newman and she fills the pretty millennial blond role.

They barely care about the Abbotts anymore. The Abbotts are a shell of themselves, yet all of Victor’s kids get consistent screen time.

Mal Young put the Abbotts are the forefront and gave them an exciting storyline. Once Anthony Morina and Josh Griffith came in, they diminished their roles.
