SOD finally changed their original article link to a "Not Found" notice ("Sorry, we made a wrong turn on the Red Carpet").  So their article referencing Amanda is gone.

Now only SOD's second article link (which doesn't mention Amanda) is viewable.

https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/yr-casts-two-new-roles2/

But TVLine is still quoting the now-deleted SOD article here:

https://tvline.com/2020/12/09/grownish-season-3b-premiere-date-freeform/

And this site is also quoting the now-deleted SOD article

https://www.blackfilmandtv.com/tvnews/ptosha-storey-leigh-ann-rose-join-the-young-and-the-restless

Daytime Confidential's article originally said the new characters would be "involved in Amanda's storyline" but they quickly edited that part out.

SOD print magazine mentions the actresses, characters, and debut of Dec 24, but doesn't mention Amanda.

I still see the original story at the original link (https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/yr-casts-two-new-roles/). The original story is just not linked on their front page. Clearly someone doesn't know how to delete a post or simply unpublish it.

Oh  I see now, SOD had THREE article links on this.

This is the one I referred to -- which now has a "not found" message:
https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/exclusive-yr-casts-two-new-roles/

It has the word "exclusive" within the URL.
Here is a screengrab of how appeared on googlesearch this morning, and where I first found it:
BwgBnGN.png

Earlier today, when I clicked on the link in the original googlesearch, it sent me to the "exclusive" SOD article mentioning Amanda.  But that link now has the "not found" notice.

Meanwhile, they still have the one you cited

https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/yr-casts-two-new-roles/

And the revised one

That's funny since I'm slowly binging YOUNGER.

That said...I don't know how I feel. I like how they look, but I worry they might try to write any Winters out as they come in rather than just slowly bring them in. Rather than you know...write for everybody.

There's only 2 Winters left. Devon  and lily. 3, if you count Nate. I can't see Devon being written out. Lily is possible though since she was just put on recurring then written out.

I count Nate. ;)

But yeah, like @LondonScribe that was my first thought. Especially after the Rosales takeover.

If these folks are indeed related to Amanda, I can't see them replacing Winters. At least not all. I see those two sisters (Amanda and Imani?) Having story with Devon and Nate. This is the show recreating Dru/Neil/Olivia/Malcolm.

IA with those who are dubious about the long-term prospects for these characters, especially after reading Marguerite Ray's obit and realizing many of the earliest Black characters (pre-Winters) have been all but totally forgotten.

I give em three months unfortunately.

Lol. Probably not 3 months, but I doubt they will featured much past next year.

It’s very telling that as soon as I clicked into the topic and saw they were black people, my immediate thought was “so, which Winter/Hamilton/Hastings is being written out to make this possible?”

If anyone, I predict Elena or Nate. CK is forever safe along with Bryton. Mishael- shrugs.

Obviously the producers are paying attention to Tyler Perry shows if people who have been on his shows were cast. They are definitely trying to tap into that audience.
