I literally screamed in horror when I saw this news pop up. Still trying to process it; it feels so surreal. It doesn't even feel real to me. I remember watching her movies and T.V. shows from the time that I was a little kid. I remember her from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and also from "Ice Princess". She was pretty much everywhere and prominent in so many things. She was way too young to die. I wonder if she was having some health issues that she may or may not be aware of. People her age just don't drop dead like that unless there's something going on with their body.

Trachtenberg was also in an episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent involving a kidnapping happening online and appeared in that episode with the late Larry King.

The YT news clip I watched said she had undergone a liver transplant! So maybe complications? Either way, 39 is way too young to die. May she rest in peace.

I agree with Lauryn Hill and her assessment of Roberta Flack's rendition of "Ballad of the Sad Young Men."  It has that end-of-movie quality that can really stir your soul.

For guest spots she's got pages & pages of credits!!!

And, yes, I'm sure we'll learn later that COD was related to either the liver transplant or whatever disease was the underlying cause. I'm glad to know that potential reason exists but I'm still just as sad as it's possible to be. BIG DANG SIGH.

May light perpetual shine upon her & may angels & heavenly hosts guide her to her new resting place & may she be met there by long unseen family & friends & beloved pets. And, may a feast be laid at a groaning table, only awaiting her presence. What a celebration of her life.

The towering Gene Hackman has died, along with his wife and dog. Santa Fe police say no foul play is suspected.

I'll remember him for so many things, but especially his brilliant work in Coppola's The Conversation, Arthur Penn's Night Moves, Friedkin's The French Connection, The Firm and the underrated Narrow Margin.

I need to finally watch Scarecrow.

One of the finest actors we'll ever have. He could play anything. You never felt like he was phoning it in. Thank goodness for New Hollywood - without it we probably never would have had him. You'd never have anyone like him today.

Night Moves is a devastating film, with Hackman playing a deeply depressed man, but never doing so in a showy way. Just watching him in bed, talking about his struggles, could be agonizing, because it felt so personal. Every moment of that performance stays with you.

We all knew he was in his last years, but I don't think anyone imagined this. I just hope the passing was quick and painless.
