After the verdict was read aloud and the jury left the room, 

the judge announced the timeline of all the next steps in the process. 


The judge asked the attorneys to file written arguments regarding aggravated sentencing factors that could add time to Chauvin's sentence.

 

(one of the news analysts later explained that "aggravated sentencing factors" could refer to various things, such as the cruelty involved and the fact that children were part of the crowd that day who witnessed the murder.)

The judge said roughly eight weeks until sentencing.
