It seems to me like it's a brand-new concept and they just attached the names "Christine Cagney" and "Mary Beth Lacey" to it. Sort of like the planned "Murder, She Wrote" "reboot" that would have had Jessica Fletcher a hospital administrator who also happened to be a self-published author. Take a show many young viewers have never heard of, or have no interest in,then revamp it so older viewers who remember it fondly are presented with a completely different show. But the premise of the original series was about two female cops who, through sheer determination and grit, had made detectives, but who were still fighting to be taken seriously in a profession dominated by men.
