Not really when you think about it. Sally immediately went back to this being a female led soap. So it makes sense.

That's great.

Well not in that way.

Although I think saying things are female led is stretching things. Certain female characters are more visible but only a few of them are really reaping the benefits of SSM's regime (most of them still Newmans).

But also in the sense that since Heather Tom's exit the Newmans have been driven primarily by the male members of the family. It's hard to remember when the Newmans were a more equitable family (even with Nikki stuck as a housewife). It's a nice change of pace.

I don't think it's a stretch at all. There are males centered in story (Billy and Cane). But everything else seems told from a female POV....oh and I forgot Scott of the many professions and back stories.

It's a stretch because the female characters still aren't driving story.

Many of them are definitely reaping the benefits of increased visibility under SSM's regime but they're still reacting to the men in their lives.

It's like with Lauren and Devon. It's great that they have stories, in theory, but the execution is severely lacking.

Damn, this week has been really good so far.

Amelia Heinle was great and the directing in those scenes were great.

Hillary continues to be a force. Devon and Hillary are definitely the end game.

The Sharon/Nikki scenes were great. I love them like this. That's the Sharon/Nikki I know. Very intrigued to see what happens next with Nikki. A good touch to put the MS back into this storyline, and it actually feels natural the conflict between Nikki and Victor this time around.

Loving everything Dina. And Gloria/Chapman is being utilized much better now in small doses.

Even with its flaws, I'm enjoying Y&R more than I have in years -- MUCH more.

Right now, this soap is worth watching  5 hours a week.

It's not as severely lacking as it is with Devon and Lauren but I catch your meaning. But we, both, can admit that the show has a different feel with the increased female visibility.

Devon and Hilary may be the end game but, at this point, do fans want them to be?

Definitely. The problem is not warping characters to achieve the intended result.

I concur. Not just characters are bring warped but story also. They bend stories to breaking in order to focus on whatever beat they want to play whether it makes sense or not.

I kind of like them being on and off - nothing solid. There is no way Mariah can compare to Hillary, and Devon knows that. I'm not one to care about couples/relationships on soap, so I'm looking forward to the twist and turns with these 2.

I still think Chloe should have stayed dead. That was solid material right there and could have given Greg Rikaart a good exit story.

Unpopular opinion but I like Jordan and the actor. Yes he's stilted, but he gels well with the cast I find and he's easy on the eyes too

Yeah, if they can just keep it grounded like they currently are the stories will work.

I really hope they do not kill off Juliet. I like the actress. She has a natural Y&R 90's look to her if that makes sense. I also like her relationship with Hillary.

All we need is Jill to come back, but not the shrill Jill, the cool, calm, collected Jill that Walton plays so well. I want the Jill that chewed up Hillary and spit her out under the old regime, there was that one scene when Jill returned with Hillary and they were discussing naming the new hospital wing; that's what I want to see again.

According to current writing for Devon, Mariah is more deserving than Hilary. So Devon thinks she stacks up very well. Matter of fact, she's better than Hilary according to him and everyone else onscreen. But my point was, it doesn't matter whether devon and hilary are end game when viewers no longer care for the outcome. I think writers lost the audience with those two 3 stories ago.

I think they want the option to bring Chloe back when Adam is recast. Explain it now rather than bogging his re-entrance down with those details. It's not a totally dumb move.

I'm just not feeling Jordan. I really wanted to but I'm not.

I like Jordan in the rare moments he's allowed to be something other than a potential spoiler for couples. He has a very honest unassuming everyman charm (the kind JM has except less fratboyish) Y&R could currently use. Unfortunately like most of the recent newbies (especially the ones in the Winters/Ashby orbit) he was never meant to be a permanent addition.

What was purpose? And do you think the show did a decent job using him for said purpose?

I understand Hillary and Devon are the endgame, however I wish she would find a less judgemental and sanctimonious soulmate!

If only the writers had flashed out the character of Jordan well before introducing him...

I totally agree about Juliet! She has the classic Y&R looks, she has the charm, she has the presence. I love her voice. I'm afraid she'll be wasted like Heather #1.

Err can JW even play that Jill? I have never seen her not be shrill and downright insecure.

I love how the writers have incorporated romance and sexual tension back into the show. Early on in SSM's regime, it was severely lacking. I'll say that again, I think the revamped show is all due to KA's influence. Y&R is a must watch classic these days. I so hope they can keep it up.

Greg doesn't need a good exit story. He's the one who needs to die. That would give Chloe something to work with. Kevin shouldn't have stay as long as he did.

What is this presence people talk about with the Juliet actress? She's OK but not that great LOL come on.

And Amelia Heinle hasn't changed one bit. I just sat through several episodes the other day and she hasn't stepped anything up. Are we watching the same show? She remains terrible.

Jordan's becoming a waste. I agree I like the actor, he has some charm, but he's falling to the wayside the same way Ravi has fallen to the wayside and they've made the mistake with Ravi to not have him interact with anyone else but Ashley.

I think one of the problems with the writing for Hilary and the way MM plays her is that she doesn't come off genuine a lot of times in her interactions with people, like with Phyllis. She just screams fake. I want her to be a bit more warm at times and genuine and not always coming off like a one note villain who's wheels are always turning. I don't know. I think MM has been looking amazing lately but the writing remains not doing her any favors.

We've needed someone like Marla Adams and Dina back on the canvas. So happy about it. I hope she remains. I still have it in the back of my head that Dina's not long for the world.

Gloria hasn't been overdone this month. I'd still rather see Jill than her. Why does it have to be one or the other?

Nikki and Sharon have benefited greatly from SSM.

And I think Eric Braeden needs to retire. Victor seems worn out to me and I truly cannot understand a thing that man says anymore.

Scott and Abby aren't the worst idea for a coupling but I'm not 100% on the actor playing Scott.
