Members DaytimeFan
Big news! Wow. It's an interesting development. Patrika Darbo is a wonderful actress, so we'll see what she can make of Shirley Spectra. Darlene Conley was one in a million, so we'll see if they can touch her magic. Members Soapsuds
I know since Bradley Bell's track record is so awful. Myron I see you! Members edgeofnik
What's more bizarre is that Brad is bringing in four NEW characters almost at once - that's ridiculous. Considering it usually takes Brad about two years to figure out each character's voice (think Maya, Caroline, etc.), this is going to be a disaster. And Sally Jr was laughably sleazy (not in a good way).
Members Soapsuds
Yeah, I didn't care for her either. Maybe it was because her scenes were with gay Thomas. She should've had her first scenes with CJ.
Members Cheap21
It could have been worse. She coulld have been introduced through Liam setting up a brand new triangle
Members Soapsuds
Oh lawd....I can hear Bradley Bell's pen smoking with rewrites as I post this.
Members ajsp35801
Wait, do y'all think young Sally won't enter into a triangle with liam and Steffy? That's the entire purpose of most of the Spectra screw being young. I'm sure Brad is just salivating over his qauds and pents. This isn't a bad idea. Not at all. But Brad won't do it justice. Hardly knew ye!
Members dm.
Of course they'll waste Sally on either Liam or Wyatt; everything revolves either around Liam, Wyatt or Quinn. Even poor Katherine Kelly Lang is an afterthought.
Members DaytimeFan
So I've watched yesterday's episode...it's great to hear the name "Sally Spectra" again...but they're striking the wrong tone. The beauty of Darlene Conley's Sally Spectra and the whole Spectra gang of Clarke, Saul and Darla was how gritty there were. Darlene's Sally was menacing, dark, desperate and mysterious. She wasn't comic relief for years, and even then, she retained her edge. Please register in order to view this content
Members Soapsuds
@DaytimeFanThat's because William J. Bell was writing the Spectras and not his son. Although Bradley was on the writing team when WJB created the Spectras.
Members titan1978
That was a fantastic clip. I have never really watched much of Bold. But I do enjoy clips from the Bill Bell era, especially ones with Stephanie. I kind of hate her character, but she fascinates me too.
Members DaytimeFan
Stephanie, in the early days of B&B, was an ice queen. Very strong and hard and self assured. Sally was exactly the opposite of Stephanie: insecure, menacing, vulnerable, bullish. The chemistry between Susan Flannery and Darlene Conley was once in a lifetime.
