Any and everyone knows that Kay Alden wasn't even used during her time at AMC, GH, or OLTL. Word on the street is, Frons snatched and grabbed her b/c SONY/CBS let her go. Everyone knows Frons was the EP, Head Writer, and Story Consultant for all the ABC shows. Kay could've submitted tons of good stuff and I am sure it was all shot down b/c it didn't match what Frons wanted. Frons love plot driven stories and Kay typically wrote character driven.

That woman is FAR from a failure. You wouldn't know that b/c you just said that Y&R wasn't your type of show. I can assure you that Kay Alden is no hack. She had her duds but she surpasses the remnants writing the remaining 4 shows by a country mile and then some.

I still wonder about that rumored story bible she wrote for AMC. Still not happy JFP chose her friend Pratt over Alden, if only Mal Young can get her out of retirement and back to HW Y&R.

Jill suggested Pratt. She didn't hire him. Nina Tassler gave the green light for Pratt to get the position.

Seriously?? Well that makes it even more worse

That's how Pratt got his EP position too. Bloggers have said he ran around Jill (after she helped get his foot in the door to pitch) and ended up getting an EP credit too, thus lessening Jill's power somewhat.

This is what happens when you try and bring 'friends' in.

These days not much, but I am watching soaps since 1981ish, and I don't think I have ever turned on Y&R and didn't find people staring at each other with these B.S. pauses trying to be dramatic.   And Peter Bergman has to be the worst offender of them all.   He reminds me of the ham actor played by Lionel Barrymore in 20th Century.   Nothing on that show with the unnatural pausing and constant staring everyone does resembles anything close to realistic, good acting or good storytelling.  I understand they used to have to do that constantly so the audience could hear the piano notes of the theme song under the scenes, but the show always was and always will be complete crap.  MTS and that grating voice of hers, EB and his mumbling, I have no clue how PB kept his job all these years--he literally is why soap actors and their hammy ways get made fun of, and that wax face of his with his 1970s newscaster hair.   She should rest in peace, whatshername who died last year playing Chancellor, but she couldn't act to save her life.

OK.

  • Co-head writer (2008–13)
  • Associate Head Writer (August 6, 2007 – January 21, 2008; April 16, 2008 – 2008)
  • Interim Head Writer (February 5, 2008 – April 15, 2008)

Five soaps.   Kay Alden, story consultant for GH 2006/2007--one of the worst year's in the show's history.   Consulting like that no show needs.

Stop. It's two soaps. Since when is consultant, especially under insane micromanager/control freak Frons, a writer? She is about 0,00% responsible for what went on screen on the, gasp, whole four months she was there.

+1

A mightily strong opinion for a person who has never even watched the material. I guess Wikipedia makes us all knowledgeable.

Alden has misfires like ALL good/great headwriters.

Jill suggested Pratt. She didn't hire him. Nina Tassler gave the green light for Pratt to get the position.

It pisses me off so much that Alden wanted to come back and was a strong possibility, only for JFP to strongly advocate for Pratt. Now THAT'S a hack.

Dear God in Heaven, you have some nerve!

What did Jeanne Cooper do to you? I guess her countless Emmy Nominations were like the Daytime Emmys of the last five years. C'mon, no need for speaking ill of the dead. I always thought JC was not only a talented actress, but also one of the most brazenly straightforward actresses out there.

We're all entitled to our opinions, but if you rarely watched, you missed out on some really great heartbreaking as well as heartwarming scenes.

Jeanne Cooper is "whatshername" who died "last year".

The show always was and always will be crap.

It's comical, really.

I don't think it's comical at all.   I think you have ideas about a show I have always felt is total crap, even when run by the late, great Bill Bell, and you just don't understand how everyone doesn't see the show the way you do.  Yeah, I called her "whatshername".   She wasn't a big deal to me that I had cause to remember her name.   Probably a nice lady, I have no idea.   The show has always been crap,  I said it again.   Peter Bergman is one of the worst actors on daytime.   You can file that away too in your shock file.

We get it. You hate Y&R. Sadly, I doubt anyone cares at this point as the show wasn't meant for everyone to understand or like.

However, you referring to Jeanne Cooper as "whatshername" is disrespectful on so many levels. I'm sure is someone was to refer to Anna Lee or Leslie Charleston as such you wouldn't be too happy.

That wouldn't bother me one bit.   That kind of stuff is a non issue for me, making me neither happy or unhappy.

FWIW, Jeanne Cooper died in 2013, not last year.

Anyway, back on topic:

She may not be perfect, but if ABC were smart (LOL), Liz Korte would be the best choice to be the next HW. She may have a Carly obsession, but the show has a chance of being at least somewhat coherent again if they let her take the reins.

I think she probably knew that going in.  Didn't both Guza and Pratt get producer credits when they came back to GH together in the early 2000's when JFP was EP?
