I have to preface what I'm about to say by admitting that I've never seen the TV adaptation.

Having said that, if half of what Wayans is saying is true, why on earth would the producers put up with that type of behavior?! Especially in this day and age, in the era of #MeToo and anti-bullying campaigns being so pervasive?

This makes me wonder about the longevity of any show with those types of toxic BTS machinations.  It'll be interesting if it all goes away with a casting change or are there deeply embedded problems that will manifest in a different aspect?

I think shows will put up with a lot for 'complicated men'.

I don't think anyone involved, Wayans included, is looking good here. But if Crawford was really uninsurable and slugged Lance Henriksen - forget it.

I never watched this show but it's disturbing to see how invested people are in Crawford to the point of hurling so much abuse at Damon Wayans and at the show on social media and various websites. I feel like fandoms have gotten more and more out of control.

IA, Carl.  I'm also wondering, though, if renewing this show for another season and with a new co-star is worth all this controversy.

I know the show does well in some other countries but I think canceling this over some of their low-rated shows that don't really have such ugliness behind the scenes is a mistake.

Seeing Crawford's fans defend him even after berating children tells you just how toxic stan culture is.

Dear. God.

If I had to stop reading the article about halfway through, because there was too much intense BTS drama for my mind to process, then I can't imagine how it must've felt for any cast or crew members who've had to live through it these past two seasons.

I'm with you, Vee: perhaps FOX should have simply cancelled the series instead.  For one thing, LW isn't performing all that well in the ratings -- and although I know Seann William Scott has his fans, both here and elsewhere, I doubt his addition will help that.  Second, I actually believe firing and replacing all the "team Clayne" crew members will end up creating an even MORE toxic on-set atmosphere in the end.

True, Clayne's gone and so are the ones who sided with him.  However, you still can't get the one actor who remains (Wayans) to quit bitching about everything and take a more pro-active role on the set (less passive-aggressive comments, participating in table reads, less aggravating demands, etc).  That [!@#$%^&*] always trickles down to the rest of the production, including to everyone who's now hired on to replace the pro-Clayne people.

Frankly, under those circumstances, I fail to understand why FOX would renew this show for another season.

Also, is it just me, or does anybody else who's read the article get the impression that Matthew Miller is an inadequate show runner?  I don't know, but I can't shake the feeling that a lot of this mess could have been shut down a lot sooner and a lot more efficiently had he taken a firmer hand.

I think Wayans is actually diabetic which would explain the food. But the killer quote about him is at the end of the article. They both sound like huge issues, but Crawford definitely had to go. I'd just scrap it.

    • They even had the same cop investigate the crime lol
    • So I think I figured based on the end credits who is the script writer for each episode. Thursday's episode looked to have been script written by David Kreizman, and it was a well written episode that flowed well. Today's episode looked to have been script written by Henry Newman (son of Fran Myers and the late Roger Newman).   Right now, I've noticed improvements on the day to day scripts and that's a good sign that eventually the long term outlines that we will see in the coming weeks and months will be good.  Fingers crossed.
    • I have a very different view of Dano. For one thing, she like me, loves her little dogs. Another thing, of course she is effusive, outgoing but she is also very vulnerable & she used to have her Frank, her mother & Vivian who officially was her publicist (I think) but she was so much more. Now, they are all gone. Well, except for her always having a pair of her little dogs. But, if I were going to think in your terms, what I would think is "cool aunt". Because this lady is really one cool dame. Here is one of my favorite views of her https://www.instagram.com/reel/DGecq8rJS4w/

    • I found it to be a rather odd way to deal with a character departing for parts unknown.
    • Today reminded me as to why I’m a little disappointed in the name that the new Pope chose

Luckily, EJ and Johnny, and pretty much every other character saved today’s episode.  I didn’t expect Javi to be the one to save Sarah though, and I don’t mind it at all, because if it means that Javi is finally going to get his own identity/character, away from his douchy bf, I’m all for it. Javi’s scenes would’ve been a lot better had it not been for him. EJ and Johnny were the best part of today. Their conversation hit a lot of important beats and I’m so looking forward to seeing them play out. And now that EJ knows that Johnny is going to work for Xander, that opens up another dynamic to their storyline and to the Kiriakis family storylines as well. Tying them all together could be really good. There are so many story possibilities that can come out of this. And I thought Carson Boatman did a pretty good job again too.  I also liked that Johnny was there to comfort Chanel after everything that happened with Sarah. They’re so good together. But I do have mixed feelings about Chanel possibly forgiving Johnny so quickly. Hopefully, the question that she asked him at the end of today leads to more conflict for the two of them.  And yeah, still no changes in Alex’s character lol
    • Awesome, thanks so much for taking the time to grab this episode. I had a quick review of your rip because I was curious why it was 700MB and 30 minutes. The first 10 minutes of the episode is 3169 (opening credits at 5 minutes and again at 15 minutes). I thought we had the full HD version of ep.3170 on the YouTube channel, but it appears they added the wrong episode but labelled it 3170.
    • I guess, according to Mike Manning in the Michael Fairman chat, he was almost Derek
