March 27, 201510 yr Member Coach was always one of those shows that was just "there." It was on during a good timeslot, so people watched, by no one cared to talk about it, and the press and award shows ignored it most of the time.
March 27, 201510 yr Member I mean, look, even though he is a right wing nut IRL, I love Craig T. Nelson as a performer and have since Poltergeist. He's a great actor and very funny. And my mother loved him and Coach. But Coach? Really? We're dying for a revival of Coach? It's not exactly Twin Peaks or The X-Files, is it? It's like if they greenlit a revival of Empty Nest or Gimme A Break. It's so random. Eh, as someone who isn't that much for sci-fi shows, it's nice to see a comfort food sitcom get a reboot. Let my type of show get a chance once in awhile.
March 27, 201510 yr Member The only good thing about this is that maybe we will get the remaining seasons of the original series on DVD.
March 27, 201510 yr Member The only good thing about this is that maybe we will get the remaining seasons of the original series on DVD. Amen. I have the first four on DVD, but I'd love to have the other five, too, even though they're all on Netflix now.
March 27, 201510 yr Member Amen. I have the first four on DVD, but I'd love to have the other five, too, even though they're all on Netflix now. As do I…I got them real cheap too….LOL
March 27, 201510 yr Member Coach was always one of those shows that was just "there." It was on during a good timeslot, so people watched, by no one cared to talk about it, and the press and award shows ignored it most of the time. Craig T. Nelson actually won an Emmy in 1992 for Oustanding Lead Actor. I think he won a Golden Globe, too. You guys are going to give me so much crap for being happy about this. Just an upfront warning for my inner fangirl so you know what you're dealing with here.
March 27, 201510 yr Member I loved the original series and don't understand the shade. It had a long run, a top notch cast and it was legitimately a good show. Sports shows do well so it makes sense to reboot this. It will sell based on the football connection. I will look forward to this. This. It wasn't the same after it moved from Minnesota to Orlando, but compared to Roseanne, it ended fine. And it had one of the greatest theme songs of all time, yes I said it.
March 27, 201510 yr Member I don't think anyone is seriously upset - just surprised. With that said, this makes more sense than things like the umpteenth attempt to reboot The Rockford Files, which I hope never happens.
March 27, 201510 yr Member Id rather see The Incredible Hulk reboot with Lou and a recast David Banner….although it was on CBS.
March 27, 201510 yr Member Coach skews old too, so I can't imagine this being a safe bet to last more than the first order NBC will give it
March 27, 201510 yr Member I don't think anyone is seriously upset - just surprised. With that said, this makes more sense than things like the umpteenth attempt to reboot The Rockford Files, which I hope never happens. I mean, I'm kind of surprised, too, but pleasantly so. Not very many shows that aren't sci-fi related get rebooted. I mean, Boy Meets World, but that's about it until now. It's just nice to see something else rebooted, something that I love and that's more to my taste. Edited March 27, 201510 yr by MissLlanviewPA
March 27, 201510 yr Member Coach skews old too, so I can't imagine this being a safe bet to last more than the first order NBC will give it That could depend on the newer cast, and how they all interact, it could last more than a year,. I would like to see anything Craig T. Nelson appears in make it. Zeke's death was the worst! Edited March 27, 201510 yr by slick jones
March 27, 201510 yr Member I wonder how Shelley Fabares is doing. I know her health wasn't too great sometime ago. Ditto Jerry Van Dyke. Dick Van Dyke is a national treasure, but I love Jerry almost as much because of this show. This is the show that finally gave him a hit, and lessened the stink of My Mother the Car.
March 27, 201510 yr Member Robin Strasser is available! Her first episode in that slinky black dress at the bar, I'm not sure that she's ever looked more stunning on screen. More than any storyline, I remember the sound of the ensemble. Craig, Jerry, Bill (now of Sponge Bob fame) and Shelley have such distinct voices and I can't imagine Coach without hearing their voices. Sort of like Murphy Brown when Miles left, something was missing. Coach ran for nine seasons??
