Maya's getting a sister

Reign Edwards joins the cast of B&B today in the contract role of Nicole Avant, Maya’s sister. Digest spoke exclusively with the actress — on her 18th birthday — about joining her first daytime soap.

“I was the youngest one in the audition,” Edwards reports. “I felt really good about it, but I honestly didn’t expect it. My mom’s a B&B fan, so when she found out, she couldn’t believe it! I think my mom is going to be pretty cool with Nicole — but even if she isn’t, hey, I’m 18 now [laughs].”

As for her new B&B persona, she teases, “I think Nicole is going to bring something pretty cool to the table for everybody. She’s Maya’s little sister, so they’re going to have some similarities but they’ll also have their differences, too. You’ll really get to see that. ”

Look for the actress to make her debut in January.

I love that they're adding another black cast member and also giving Maya some family! It bodes well for Maya's future on the show. I hope they also cast a fabulous actress as their mother down the line.

Oliver would be all over that if it's discovered she's Eric, Ridge or Thorne's love child..... When I saw the B&B casting call for an AA actress a few weeks ago, I was worried they might be recasting KM. Glad they are adding to Maya's family.

I want to get excited, and hope this means that Bell is not giving up on Caroline/Rick/Maya, but this is Brad Bell.

Yaass! Maya is getting family! I just hope that her sister isn't squeaky clean and saccharine. I hope she gets down and dirty alongside Maya.

I do commend Brad Bell for diversifying his cast. I do hope though that this leads to him bringing back Dayzee and Zende in the near future as well.

Dayzee became a snore when they paired her with Marcus. She was perfect with Thomas.

Please don't wish VR on us at B&B lol. She burned her bridges with Sony, they're not going to hire her at B&B
