Week of 2/25: Strong GL and Y&R. GH Number 1 solid lead over Number 2 AMC. GL battling AMC for Number 2.

Week of 3/3: GH and AMC battling it out for Number 1. GL and OLTL battling for Number 3. And look how close AW is to Y&R.

I agree, @Paul Raven.  Consistency is one thing, but ATWT seemed to lapse into inertia by the late '70's.  Characters appeared to be playing the same scenarios over and over again.  The show definitely needed a jolt.

Agreed, you look at clips back then and all the men. looked middle aged ..(even Tom, and the I think the actor who played him is sexy as hell, but I like the uptight guys in suits thing ( I wonder if a bit later he would have made a good Alan Spaulding...)but his line readings and everything else makes him seem older its odd when he calls Lisa "mom".   There had to be five lawyers running around and the music just seems depressing.  The Dobsons didn't improve a lot and on their second time around the show had gutted its core and its was down to focusing on about 5 characters..(though it could be fun once in a while...)

3/10: GH and AMC battling it out for Number 1. OLTL a solid Number 3. Another World at Number 5..beating Y&R? What was going on AW?

3/17: All My Children a solid Number 1.  Another world Number 4!? Also Y&R weaker than Feb. 1980..the time chage and expansion really damaged Y&R strong momentum.

All My Children doing really well in February and March 1980. I believe Susan Lucci was on pregnancy leave at this time.

Douglas Marland GL really holding its own vs. General Hospital.

The rest of CBS is tanking. The new schedule was not working.

    • Elon is snapping on Trump worse than Phyllis snapped on Billy over Abbott Communications lmao.
    • In watching the Family Feud episodes, I can't get over how charming and interesting all the EON actors are. Tony Craig was not served by how Draper was written, and I wish he had been given a better character. He's so adorable on FF. From what I've seen on EON, he is never given much of a chance to show that. He should have been a major leading man in soaps based on the way he is on FF.
    • Kim Zimmer gets a lot of details wrong. Since she gave it to so many people to read (if they actually read it and didn't just blurb it), you would think someone would have pointed out these errors. I don't know if it's just confusion on her part or if it's because she wrote it out of anger. She has admitted she was extremely angry in writing the book. I was not surprised she left out Michelle Forbes because it must have come as a blow to realize that viewers had quickly latched on to another actress.  That's probably why she was not always kind to Cynthia Watros (something she admits to). Jeanne Cooper and Victoria Rowell published similar memoirs where they were determined to get even with costars and producers they felt had wronged them. Zimmer is a lot more measured than those two.
    • And Susan did find something to hawk when All My Children was cancelled. Susan was right in the middle of a book tour to promote her autobiography. So she was facing questions from interviewers about AMC cancellation, while trying to sell her book at the same time Kim Zimmer must be clairvoyant - explains why TPTB at Guiding Light made the character Reva a psychic!

    • Cheeseburgers, with some spicy fries! YUM!
    • Not to be that person (lol), BUT: Reva's marriage to Alan was annulled, so that doesn't count. Also, I ASSUME she had not yet been declared legally dead when she married Richard, so that one also probably doesn't count. As I've said before, it's not unusual for actors to slip up on storyline details, so I would be shocked if these were the only gaps in her memory of this kind. And, yeah, the more names, the funnier it is, so...
