February 4, 201411 yr Member Off Topic: That bullsh't that was Marshall "raping" not only killed any interest in my getting to know ATWT, it still pisses me off 10+ years later. On topic: considering that white actresses have been rewarded for doing / being able to do much less, Blacktresses having the material to win a Best Actress award is irrelevant, IMO. That rape ruined ATWT for me as well. I still watched somewhat and kept up with the stories but it was not the same. Well, let's not pretend that black actresses can do what white actresses can. It's one thing to say someone deserved an award or was robbed when they had the body of work to prove it, it just comes off as sour grapes when you say it and they didn't have the work to back it up.
February 4, 201411 yr Member Is that a serious question? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdImemBj-9Q http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kPc9mTTsEs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2wEIyQplVE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9e-jNN7_fFQ DM especially should have been nominated for that last episode. It focused exclusively on Angie and she acted her heart out showing tons of range with the character as we got to see an insight into a day in her life. She definitely deserved to have been nominated, she without a doubt had great material especially last year, it's a shame she decided not to submit herself
February 5, 201411 yr Member Breaking down the list by show, they rank as follows: Y&R: 5 wins, 21 nominations All My Children: 3 wins, 11 nominations Guiding Light: 3 wins, 2 nominations One Life to Live: 1 win, 5 nominations Generations: 3 nominations Another World: 2 nominations Sunset Beach: 2 nominations General Hospital: 2 nominations Ryan's Hope: 1 nomination As the World Turns: 1 nomination Days of our Lives: 1 nomination
February 5, 201411 yr Member Timothy D. Stickney was perhaps the best supporting actor on One Life to Live in the 1990's. He was in a lot of story link clunkers yet always made them watchable. The fact that he never even received a nomination is criminal.
February 5, 201411 yr Member Thanks for sharing this list! gives me a better break down of the history of which AA actors/actresses won/were nominated..... Was Kristoff st.John really nominated for supporting actor for Generations in 1990 then switched to younger the following year, or is that a typo?...... It really is a shame they stupidly overlooked the Nathan/Olivia aids story and Tonya Lee Williams and Victoria Rowell didn't win for it.....I bet they felt like ripping their hair out when CK won in 2012......ugh I was never more pissed off...

Spellbinding. 2011, 2012 (AND 2014!) SHOULD HAVE been Debbi's years to take it! Still completely disgusted Laura Wrong won over her (and 'Lish!) in 2011.
February 6, 201411 yr Member The Primetime Emmys have never had a Black actress win for a leading role in a drama series either, although Black actresses have won Primetime Emmys for leading roles in a comedy series and movie/miniseries.
February 6, 201411 yr Member I don't even want to get into the Primetime Emmy's. Black actresses are lucky to even get a nomination, let alone a win for a Golden Globe or Primetime Emmy. Just off the top of my head I was always horrified when Regina King didn't get nominated for Southland. In general that show should've been an Emmy darling, but how the hell did they not nominate her?

And then people want to complain about awards show that specifically cater to minorities/people of color.
